Dr. Bridget Okwuosa, of Newport Dental & Orthodontics, at 3383 Long Beach Blvd, Long Beach, 90807, refused dental treatment to my son twice simply because I sought a second opinion regarding her recommendations. About a year ago, she said that my son had four cavities, which surprised me because he had managed to be cavity-free for 3 years prior when he had braces. I sought a second opinion from my personal dentist of 10+ years. He recommended a less invasive treatment. I returned to Newport Dental and showed Dr. Okwuosa the recommendation from my dentist, and confirmed with reception that my son's insurance covered the procedure. However, Dr. Okwuosa outright refused to administer the alternative treatment. We returned to the office recently for another check up and cleaning. Again, I expressed that I would like to seek a second opinion before treatment, and asked that they perform only a cleaning. Dr. Okwuosa refused to allow the cleaning to happen. Medical tyranny at its best.
