Gum graft surgery
Due to a failed gum graft, I have lost even more gum tissue over several years following surgery, and it continues to be a problem. I paid hundreds of dollars for what was supposed to help me. How I wish I had chosen to leave well enough alone or in hindsight, made an appointment for a second opinion.

Life-threatening misdiagnosis
Peterson missed a life-threatening diagnosis because he failed to take xrays after 3 appointments. He ordered a biopsy and then canceled it. I got worse and worse. All treatment was wrong. Now my life is at risk.

Skiller practioner & Great explainer
I first saw Jason Peterson for a tricky minor oral surgery. I was surprised at how pain free the process was and how great the results looked and felt. I appreciated being handed information on the healing process, so that I didn't need to take notes. Then I went to him about wildly conflicting suggestions I'd gotten on another minor oral surgery. I was delighted with his clear and detailed explanation of the alternatives and sensible suggestions for treatment. I also appreciate his wonderful, helpful office staff and was relieved to be handed a copy of their privacy policy before being asked to agree to it. (I'm horrified by how often I'm asked to agree to something without seeing a copy of it!) I've gotten excellent treatment and information from Jason Peterson, but few medical professionals are mind readers: remember to ask questions, ask follow up questions, and write down the answers.

Dr. Peterson is a few years out of date. Based on my review of the dental literature (as a doctor myself) and in consult with Dr. Val Bingham and Dr. Ethan Moulton, I felt that Dr. Peterson was not capable of diagnosing or treating more difficult periodontal issues. I had some root resorption (with visible presentation). Dr. Peterson wanted to do an autograft over that without any endo repair. He seemed unsure of his skills in the allograft. Dr. Moulton is a better choice for a periodontist in Idaho Falls in my opinion. He was able to recommend root repair and work with an allograft. Dr. Peterson also charged me $50 for a five minute consult in an old house where he has his office. Even as a doctor myself I don't bill $600/hr.
