My 3 yr old son suffered trauma to his 2 front teeth and had 2 baby root canals which Dr. John performed. My son had to be wrapped like a papoose while he was wide awake with no anesthesia or medication of any kind; that was his very first experience at the dentist. Fast forward a few months when my son had his very first cleaning and exam… the hygienist was amazing and did her best to keep him calm so that he wouldn’t associate the dentist with his original traumatic experience. Then Dr. John came in, which by that point my son didn’t want to sit in the chair and he was crying - he had enough of people poking around in his mouth. Dr. John’s first question was “did he suffer trauma to these front teeth?” ! Um, not only did he perform them but why didn’t he review my son’s chart before walking in to see him?!?! He then proceeded to tell me to have my son straddle me so I could pin his arms down while the Dr checked his teeth in his lap, without even attempting to build some report with my son. After looking at his teeth while my son cried (I don’t know any 3 year old who wouldn’t be crying if they were being pinned down and they were already scared beforehand) he proceeded to ask me if my son had any developmental problems! IN FRONT OF MY SON! My son was a late talker but how dare he make any assumptions after being with my son for 3 minutes! He then proceeded to say “don’t take this the wrong way, but then somewhere on the spectrum?” It’s no offense to anyone who has a child on the spectrum, but how do I NOT take it the wrong way when you’re asking me IN FRONT of my son and making the assumption based off of a scared 3 year old crying. You’re a Dentist, NOT a Pediatrician. I called the office after I left, I just wanted to get my son out of there, and explained how upset I was. I mean how do you answer “mommy is there something wrong with me?!” because the dentist asked those questions?! The woman who took my call was great but I asked for Dr John to call me so he could explain all of his mistakes. Did I get a call… NO. I would give him zero stars if I could.

My son has autism and is very afraid of all the tools (including the lights) involved with getting a cleaning. We have had 2 visits so far. They are really good working with him. He likes the friendly room and smiling staff. He likes getting to watch netflix. They work around his behaviors pretty well, not pushing anything, but getting his cleaning done as quickly as possible. Dr. Bitner has a great sense of humor, distracting him while doing his exam. Bit of a drive due to location.

We took my son to Dr. Bittner when he fell and broke the roots of his two front teeth. Dr. Bittner told us we had to have a pulpectomy (basically a root canal) and that my son also needed a frenulectomy (snipping some of the tissue that connects the top lip to the gums). My son (4 years old) had a horrible, painful experience. My husband had to lay across him to hold him down. The experience traumatized my family. Speaking with a different dentist, learned that NONE of it was needed.

I would never recommend this dentist office to anyone. The office staff is terrible and we haven't been back since 2014 . My daughter had a surgical procedure done and the office did not get a preauthorization for the procedure from my insurance. I was billed for months and they refused to timely fix the problem. I was sent to collections in 2016 for a charge for a bill that was being sent to the wrong address from 2014, which they have refused to fix claiming the mail wasn't returned to them
