I went to see Dr. Poovey to have a cavity filled this summer. Dr. Poovey performed my filling with a laser machine he recently started using. This method of performing a filling does not require a nerve block because there is “absolutely no pain, it only a cold feeling” I was told many times. However, the procedure is very painful and while filling a cavity on my front tooth, there was a point where I felt an incredibly sharp pain. Dr. Poovey and his hygienist Karen diagnosed a "cracked" tooth (although he couldn't show it to me on the x-ray but was only visible by them). He recommended a crown immediately. I told him I was going to think about it. 6 months later it was "too late" and needed it extracted and an implant put in. After 2 botched appointments to discuss a treatment plan, I got a 2nd opinion and the other dentist was bewildered why I was told I had a cracked tooth. Four years later and I still have my tooth.
