Dr. Kurt Folke, DDS

Receptionists and most of the other staff have been helpful and friendly. I like them. However, Dr. Folke himself has often not had a good bedside manner. He’s poked around at me with no explanation and little warning, as if I was an inanimate object to practice on instead of a living patient.It’s also strange and, in my view, inappropriate that he brings politics into his office so much. There are political slogans displayed in the building, and while he’s within his right to do so, I think it’s strange. At one appointment, he started discussing political matters with another staff member while performing a procedure on me. It was jarring, and again, it seemed as if my presence and treatment was an afterthought. It was a conversation better suited to after work or on break instead of while administering medical care.No offense to the others there, but I intend to look elsewhere for future appointments.

My family of 4 have seen Dr. Folke and his hygienists for close to 10 years now. Great no nonsense dentist that doesn’t jump to procedures that may not be needed and hygienists are always thorough and gentle.

We have been patients of his for over 20 years. He and his staff are wonderful. Dr Folke doesn’t rush you, explains things, is very professional, and reasonably priced. Have used several of his dental hygienists (most recently Krissy) who do a great job too. Lori (his receptionist) is so friendly too. We would highly recommend him!

After having a terrible experience at another loca dentist in town I went to Dr. Folke. I had Crissy cleaning my teeth. Full x-rays and she did an excellent job. Dr. Folke was so nice and had a great sense of humor, he grind down a rough corner for me. Did a great job. I got a really nice care packet when I left, it contained an oral B toothbrush, toothpast. Floss and chap stick . Not the cheap stuff either. I highly recommend. You won't be disappointed. Great group if people.

His staff was very kind, I never had a problem with them. Dr. Folke, however, has no bedside manner. He is rude and does not educate his patients on procedures he is performing. A good dentist would say hello and introduce themselves to their patients immediately when walking into the room. Then, they would ask permission to start examining the patient and explain what they are doing. He does not do any of these courteous behaviors. In addition, he does not follow the requests of patients. I asked him to walk me through a procedure as he completed it. He told me to open my mouth and injected the anesthetic without explaining anything to me. When I asked him to tell me what he was doing for a second time, he replied: “I injected the anesthetic, there I told you.” He has no compassion for the fears of patients. Not sure why he decided to go into the medical field with his attitude.

Dr. Kurt Folke is one of the most competent professionals I've had the good fortune of knowing. His staff is delightful, his facilities are top caliber. Highly recommended by Ed Gimenez Founder, President and CEO ALA Industries in Valparaiso, Indiana.

I can’t say enough about how much I appreciate Dr. Folke and his staff. I have had major dental problems my entire life, and have been seeing Dr. Folke for about 10 years. Whenever I need work done, he thoroughly explains, the problem, offers options, and allows me to decide, although I usually ask him for his preference and go with that. His charges are reasonable, and his staff is excellent. I recommend him highly!

Great experience. The hygienist who cleaned my teeth was so thorough.

Awful experiences. His bedside manner is bad which I could overlook if he was good at what he does. I needed a filling, it never felt right when I bit down. I went back three times and he ended up not fixing the problem and blaming me. After my daughter said she hurt, he told her she didn't have any pain when she had a mouth opener on. Turns out her lip was pinched in it and she had a fat lip and distrust of dentists after that.

Great dentist with a great staff.

If I could give zero stars I would. The only positive part of the experience was with the hygienist. After a cleaning and X-Rays it was determined two teeth needed fillings. After a heavy hand drilling as if trying to reach oil through bedrock I ended up with a gap between one filling that packed food and being unable to chew on the right side filled tooth. After seeking reputable dentistry it was determined the tooth had been cracked! 0 for two sir...thanks for the pain.
