This dental office has the worst customer service I’ve ever encountered. They never respond to emails, and when you call with an issue, they become defensive and rude rather than speaking to you professionally. They interrupt frequently and don’t truly listen to what you’re saying.
My sister used to get her cleanings here, but I’ve advised her to stop, and she will. I initially recommended Dr. Maley to my uncle when he was looking for a new dentist, but I later warned him about the poor customer service.
While I believe Dr. Maley may be a good dentist, I can’t comment on his dentistry since I’m still experiencing pain after my procedure. It’s hard to know if the pain is due to his work or if it would have been there regardless. I am sure it would have probably still been there regardless since the crown he did looks perfect in the X-rays. However, customer service is the most important thing in a dentists office, especially when there are plenty of good dentists throughout Ohio and neighboring states. So while I still would’ve continued going to Dr Maley despite still having pain (since I really don’t think it’s his fault), I would never go back there due to the terrible customer service and would never recommend them to anyone.
Also while I’m at it: the reason I called them today is because I was truly concerned when I saw that they charged my insurance $100 for my visit. I had visited them since the crown Dr Maley did still hurt me, and he did an adjustment (which should be free of course, since if the tooth still hurt due to not adjusting it correctly, it’s the dentist’s responsibility to adjust it correctly. I think this part was free). However, before Dr Maley left the room, I asked him quickly to look at an xray from a different dentist’s office and see if he thought I needed a crown like that dentist suggested. He said we would watch the tooth. They charged my insurance $100 for those 30 seconds. To me, that is concerning. Maybe that’s normal to him and to other people reading this review, but I believe it is truly concerning to have a dentist that would charge the insurance $100 when he just looked at my xray from a different office & gave his quick opinion from just that quick glance. I hesitated to add this part because now they’re probably going to reply to this review by talking only about that $100 — when that’s the least of my worries. I don’t care to get that money back (it’s not even mine). For me it’s about the principle.

My review is not about the dental care itself or most of the staff. For the most part I am reviewing one person in the office that is not involved with direct patient care but deals with patients on the business side of the practice. My family were patients at Sylvania Dental Group for over 40 years when one dentist in the group retired and the other moved into the office with Dr. Maley. Everyone seemed nice enough and I would not normally allow one bad person to cause me to leave my dental group after so many years. However that’s exactly what happened. You may get adequate dental care at this practice but beware. A couple of the office staff are not only unfriendly, but one in particular is down right rude.
