Dr. Michael Montgomery, DDS

I believe Dr Montgomery know his "stuff", but he obviously didn't read the forms and detailed information I filled out. I did not go to him for pain - I went to him because of my bite, which I had tried to impress upon him and his assistant in my written descriptions. Cost me $95 to tell him that. He didn't care about my bite.

First time to review any doctor. Dr. Montgomery was very clinical and literlly spoke to me from behind my head (looking at my chart) without the chance for me to actually speak TO him. He was asking critical questions that would traditionally require a face-to=face meeting. Very hard to relate to. Had been referred to him because he was a supposed TMJ specialist (have been dealing with it for 25 + years and have seen many doctors and had many nightguards). I was referred to him by an ear specialist, but all he could recommend were drugs and a generic night guard. Been there, done that. It’s frustrating that I was referred to a “specialist” and that I trusted that title. Might be helpful for a newly diagnosed TMJ patient, but not someone 25 years in and still looking for relief.

Tried to convince me that I must be depressed despite having no reason to be) because “there must be something causing [my] TMJ.” Wants me to take: NSAIDs (allergic - kept making me feel bad I can’t take), Xanax (claimed it is not addictive and does not have negative side effects (false), a hypnotic (I do not have insomnia and told him several times), and steroids (told him I’ve taken them without relief). He refused to listen. Also said I must be grinding, but dentist said I have no evidence.

I have had at least 4 other night guards made, but the one that Dr Montgomery made for me is the only one that didn't end up out of my mouth in the morning. He is very detailed and has good chair side manner
