Avoid Dr. Peter Henein – A Terrible Experience It has been 13 months since Dr. Henein removed a mucocele from my mouth, and I am still dealing with numbness and swollen lumps. My experience with him was nothing short of frustrating and disappointing. During my initial consultation, I made sure he understood exactly where the mucocele was, and I specifically asked if there was any risk of nerve damage. He assured me there was none because he "doesn’t go that deep." I scheduled the procedure a week later, and once again, I made sure he knew the exact location of the mucocele. He even felt it and confirmed he knew what he was removing. On the day of the procedure, he gave me multiple shots of Novocain and left the room for 10 minutes. As I waited, I could feel my lip swelling from the anesthetic. When he returned, he suddenly claimed there was a smaller mucocele in addition to the one I originally came in for. Trusting his judgment, I agreed to have it removed. However, what actually happened was that the Novocain had caused unnecessary swelling, and instead of remembering where the original mucocele was, Dr. Henein cut out a much larger area—including tissue that was never swollen before the anesthesia. I don’t understand how he could forget in just 10 minutes what he was supposed to remove. The pain after the procedure was excruciating, and now, more than a year later, I am left with permanent nerve damage and noticeable lumps. I am beyond upset that I have to live with this mistake for the rest of my life. Shame on you, Dr. Henein, for not listening to your patient and for being careless with something as serious as surgery. I strongly urge anyone considering him to STAY AWAY! There are far more competent and attentive doctors out there who will actually listen and do their job correctly.
