Dr. R Shelhouse, DDS

I have gone to the Dayton Dental Collaborative for years. However, my hygienist today was very rough. Usually, I am quite tolerant with dental cleanings so for me to complain it had to be bad. She pierced my gums repeatedly with her scaler tool and pick. She ran the polishing tool over my gums so I felt as though I was receiving a dermabrasion treatment. Then she told me my gums were in poor condition because she felt they bled easily. It is now 7 hours after my appointment and my gums still hurt. Was going to purchase the $550 in house dental plan but was told I didn't qualify for it because my teeth required deep cleaning and I would have to purchase the $800 plan. I have never been told I had any gum issues or my teeth required deep cleaning before so I turned down the $800 plan and paid cash. The dentist gave me a clean bill of dental health much to the chagrin of the hygienist. Will be searching for new dentist.

Dr Shellhouse was amazing! He takes fear and pain out of dental appts. I broke my 2 front teeth and Dr Shellhouse did such amazing work that no one can tell that they are crowns! Dr Shellhouse is such a perfectionist. Best dentist ever!

Daughter got a 4:30 A.M. appt. before work,Was 30-40 min to go in back, diagnosed a bunch of work he claimed needed done (Shelhouse) but incredulously did not believe at face vale; on going elsewhere for 2nd opinion, found out it was just an attempt to milk a lot of money for unnecessary procedures. New dentist in B-creek, very happy there instead. ALWAYS get a 2nd opinion elsewhere. Insurance they take is VERY limited (cash-snob$),even for gov. employees using a HlthSvngsAct Vs insurance. So NO
