I am not a guinea pig!
I had been seeing this provider for years and went for my first 'deep gum cleaning.'. I was very surprised to find that it wasn't the dentist that did the cleaning. For both appointments it was a dental hygentist! To my way of thinking I should have been told about that before I arrived for my appointment. The work quality was lacking!

She was nice when DR. Jeff introduced her. Once Dr. Jeff left the practice, Dr. Sinacola was no longer a nice person to deal with. I had 2 appointments and then I was done going there.

I had a cleaning appt and at the end of it I was told Dr. Sinacola needed X-rays, and I asked why… since I just had X-rays three months earlier at my regular dentist. She got a little short with me and said those X-rays didn’t show what she needed to see and then I told her I didn’t have time to get the X-rays because I had already been there an hour for my cleaning and I had an important meeting to get to at work. I asked the hygienist to make my next appt. And she said she couldn’t make me another cleaning appt. until I got the X-rays. So I left and several days later I get a CERTIFIED letter from Dr. Sinacola telling me that she didn’t want me as a patient anymore so I needed to find a new periodontist. Who is she kidding!! I am happy to find a new periodontist because Dr. Sinacola has no idea how to work with people. I do NOT recommend Dr. Sinacola!

Long Wait Time and Unfriendly Environment
Dr. Sinacola and her staff had me wait for more than 40 minutes and once inside, they weren’t sure of what there for! I asked if they could reach out to my regular dentist and have me rescheduled. Two weeks later, she sent me a certified letter essentially firing me as their patient. She also sent a copy of that letter to my family dentist (the one who had originally referred me to her office) stating that I did not fill out the medical history form!! Now, I am glad that I don’t have to drive 40 minutes to see her nor I have to deal with her attitude. There are plenty periodontists in West Michigan and I already found a decent one. So if you feel you are not getting the bedside manner you expect, it may be worth looking for another referral.

Rude
My regular dentist referred me to Dr. Sinacola to evaluate some gum recession. She and her medical staff were dismissive of my questions, both during our in-person consultation and over the phone. Then she sent me a CERTIFIED LETTER essentially firing me as her patient. Not only that, but she sent a copy of the letter to my longtime dentist with an addendum saying “patient was rude.” My letter didn’t include this attack on my character. Since when is it considered rude to ask medical questions about a medical procedure being recommended for me (in this case, a gum graft)? My letter just vaguely referenced “a breakdown in the doctor-patient relationship” and that I needed to “seek treatment elsewhere.” But she made sure to call me “rude” to my longtime family dentist. I can’t believe how unprofessional and unempathetic to my legitimate fears and concerns Dr. Sinacola was. I have a new referral now to a different periodontist and I’m glad she fired me as her patient.
