Dr. Ricky May, DDS

Extremely disappointed. Sherry (front desk) was the ONLY person who was kind and courteous. I felt disrespected, confused and stressed when I left that office, the 3 minutes he took to talk to me was as I were a waste of his time. Found a professional, kind, courteous and respectful facility elsewhere.

The office staff were friendly and helpful. Dr. Mays, himself, was rude and disrespectful. He did not appreciate my opinion. He stands behind the patient to talk with no face to face contact. Refused to see me again. Referral was to an out of network provider. I would not recommend him to anyone.

Overall, my first visit with Dr May and the office staff was awesome. They were very friendly and quick. I’ve been going there for years so I continued because I was told that my insurance was still acceptable. Unfortunately, later I found out that they did not accept my insurance and need to pay out of pocket. I was very upset because they go over your insurance info before getting exam. However, due to their mistake they can only give me a 15% discount. So please make sure you’re covered before being seen. Being retired disabled on a fixed income, tax time and the holidays, this was definitely not part of my plan. I have maintained great insurance to avoid this and due to their mistake, I have to pay out of pocket. So please double check your out of pocket before being seen. Overall, great staff and great doctor but whoever reviewed my insurance over looked.

My visit with Dr. May was a very pleasant experience. He has all the up to date experience and equipment . He and his office staff are very professional and caring. Beat Dentist I Have Ever Been To!!!

Disrespectful and insistence on orthopedic surgeon if he gets frustrated. I drove 2 miles down the road and had molar removed for $210.00 cash because he would not take the time required to numb my tooth. It was 100% covered by insurance at his office. His impatience and rude comments about me smelling like cigarette smoke were demeaning. If he wants to only see non smokers he should make that clear. DISRESPECT IS NEVER OK.

Dr May is the best dentist on the planet. I've had extensive dental work in my lifetime, multiple extractions, braces late in life, gum disease, root canals with crowns and fillings galore. Dentists are not created equal and Dr May identifies the problem and solves the problem painlessly and quickly. What else could you want? Sadly we've lost him to Tazewell our loss is their gain.

This office is extremely rude and costly. They apparently prefer patients who don't express opinions or preferences. I am not one who appreciates receiving a call from paid phone callers to schedule appointments. I have expressed that to them. I also found their pricing high. I expressed that. I was told they would not see me. Better to find out now that we are not a good fit. UPDATE: I've made an appointment elsewhere for $89 LESS! Plus, got in faster than it took for this awful event.

I have been an patient of Dr. May's for about 2 years and have had a wonderful experience with him. I have never had to wait in the waiting room for more than 5 minutes and the staff is incredibly friendly and informative. They are able to get me in quickly and let me know ahead of time what to expect as far as procedures and out of pocket expenses.

I have been a loyal patient however I am now seeking another dentist. I went to him for tooth pain. He recommended me for a root canal with a local endodontist. It cost $640 upfront for that visit. Then, when scheduling my appt for crown work with Dr May, he also requires $500 upfront and TWO WEEKS IN ADVANCE OF THE APPOINTMENT. I asked for permission to pay the Friday before my appointment or a payment plan and he suddenly dropped me as a patient!! Would not even complete my crown work!! Sad.
