If you're going to Dr. Steve Gutterson in Huntington for fillings in your teeth he's good, unless it's for your main #8 and #9 main upper front teeth in which case he isn't good both functionally and cosmetically.  All I asked him to do was to fix the bottom of my #8 tooth (one of your 2 main top front teeth) and make it look like its identical #9 tooth that's next to it which is the way it used to look and how it should be.  He simply couldn't.  1) He made the bottom too wide and turned it into a bell shape which he fixed once I pointed it out to him; 2) he left it sharp on the inside on 2 different occasions where it hurt my tongue and eventually fixed them once I pointed them out to him; 3) he made bite issues where I had to inconveniently come back for bite adjustments on 2 different occasions which he fixed once I pointed them out to him; 4) he made it shorter than my #9 tooth after I asked him to make it the same length which is the way the natural tooth was and relengthened it a 2nd time but it's still not correct because: 5) he cut the bottom edge straight across when it used to be rounded and is how my #9 tooth is next to it.  Why would you send someone home with all of these incorrect issues?  He would ask me several times how my bite felt after he was mostly finished on 2 different visits but I as the patient can barely tell how it feels because my mouth is numb from the novocaine.  Can't dentists tell themselves how the bite is?  Also, can't he just scrape the teeth lightly on the inside with a tool to make sure that there aren't any sharp areas before sending someone home?  The 6th thing he did was he also made the edges of both the #8 and #9 teeth 50% transparent, and after I asked him why he made them look like that he said there is nothing else he can do about it.  Why can you not make the edges of a tooth white all the way through like my natural tooth was?  Are amalgam fillings 50% transparent?  I highly doubt that in this day and age you can't make the edges of your front teeth white all the way through.  Are all of these issues that he caused the kind of work that you'd expect from someone who has 30 years of experience? In between my 6 or so visits I texted their text phone line a couple of times detailing exactly what he did wrong and what needs fixing after I came home and the novocaine wore off (which is the only time when you can tell what's wrong), and asked them to show it to Dr. Gutterson so I wouldn't have to explain everything all over again to him each time I return there.  The text phone line replied that they were delivering my messages to the Huntington location's front desk.  Then once I returned to my next appointments on 2 different occasions Dr. Gutterson tells me that the ladies at the front desk never gave him the text messages.  At the end of one of my visits the oldest lady at the front desk tells me that I have 3 molars in a row at the lower-left of my mouth that she has to request root canals for with my insurance company.  She put in for them and I got a mailing from my insurance company stating the 3 numbered molars and that they were denied.  Then 2 months later when I'm speaking to Dr. Gutterson, he tells me that there were never 3 molars in a row that were in need of root canals, but instead 2.  Here I am for months thinking that I have to lose 3 teeth when in fact it was only 2.  This is the reason why the doctor should be the only one to tell you which teeth need root canals, and not the ladies up front. I have been nothing but kind to everyone in that office every single time both in person and in my text messages.  However, once they received my text messages about what Dr. Gutterson did wrong, everyone suddenly became all doom and gloom.  No longer were they full of smiles but everyone suddenly acted seriously whenever I returned there.  God forbid a patient should address the problems that their dentist caused and what needs fixing. As far as personality goes, Dr. Gutterson and the ladies up front are great... Except for his blonde assistant.  You can smell her attitude problem a mile away.  On November 7th 2023 once I returned after sending my 2nd text message to them with my complaint addressing the issues of my #8 tooth that Dr. Gutterson caused and needed fixing, she tells me to come in the room and doesn't even say anything once I reached there.  Then after a while as she leaves the room she says: "the doctor will be doing 2 fillings today."  Again, you could smell her attitude problem a mile away.  After Dr. Gutterson comes in and puts the spit sucker in my mouth, his blonde assistant comes back in the room and she immediately steps on the hose of the spit sucker so it's digging into my cheek.  I then pulled on it to give me some slack to relieve the pain.  Her father's a cop - what a shocker.  I can see the attitude runs in the family.  At that point I knew I was in for it... I was right.  Toward the end of the doctor working on correcting all of his mistakes from the previous visit, his assistant says to him: "When you told him to bite down, he bit on his lower lip multiple times.  It was bleeding a lot before."  This lip was numbed by novocaine, so there's no possible way I could tell that I'm biting on it multiple times while the doctor several times is telling me to bite down.  They handed me a mirror only to find out that I looked like I was in a prize fight - my lower lip on the inside was blown up swollen and had multiple gashes in it from my teeth - one of which was black.  God forbid she should say something while it's happening but she never did - intentionally!  I asked her: "Aren't you supposed to be holding the lip back while he's working?"  To which she snottily replied: "I DID."  Yeah, she did... after she made sure that I bit down hard on my lip twice and caused lots of bleeding first, and THEN she held it back.  She didn't say a word while it was "bleeding a lot."  It's absolutely amazing that any organization would hire a witch like her.  After Dr. Gutterson sees my bleeding and swollen lip he leans back into the wall and acts puzzled saying: "I don't even know how this happened." Isn't it funny that this doctor asked me to give a review of him on my 1st fillings visit - without even doing most of the needed work first in subsequent visits, saying: "It would really help us"?  And he wants me to give him a positive review?  He's out of his mind.
