Dr. Todd Galkin, DDS

The personal touch in Dr. Galkin's office is one of the things that makes his practice rate as one of the very best in the area. From the time, I arrived, the front office staff were kind and informative and worked to make the paperwork as minimal as possible. Dr. Galkin personally greeted me in the waiting area and let me know more about the day's treatment and how long it would take. During the entire process of examining my teeth and troubleshooting a tooth that was giving me some pain, he provided me with the details of what he was doing and why. I felt very much as if he was a professor and talked me though every procedure. That alone calmed my nerves and put me at ease. The work was painfree and highest quality. I would recommend him to anyone seeking a great dentist in the Silver Spring MD area.

I have never been treated so badly by a medical "professional" in my life. While numb and being fitted for a crown, Todd drilled a 1/4" deep hole in my tongue and didn't tell me until I spat out a lump of jellied blood onto the receptionist's sign-in sheet. He said it was from the crown adjustment. The next day I texted him a photo of my tongue which had a visibly festering wound in it and he texted back "looks like it's healing nicely." He did not offer any suggested treatment for the wound. I had to return for the final crown and it was a disaster. It was grainy like sandpaper and I was told this was 'normal' and would wear off eventually. He broke off a portion of my adjacent tooth while trying to fit my new crown in and said it was "an extra piece of your new crown and nothing to worry about." I left with a scratchy, grainy crown and went to another dentist who shared that my other tooth was broken and that this new crown was a work of someone incompetent. Don't go to him.

Always a great experience. Staff is efficient and experienced. Very friendly and takes the fear out of going to the dentist.

Dr Galkin is extremely good in his work. My front teeth broke and I had no way to go. He specially made time for me. Called me in the clinic and within a short time made me smile again. The work he did on my front teeth is amazing and every time I smile, I remember how much hard he worked for me! May God bless him. He is so professional and caring. His staff are also so caring and professional. Thank you all for the splendid work you all do.

d a great deal of experience with dentist and I am very happy I was referred to Dr Galkin for my many dental needs. I believe Dr Galkin to have exceptional skills, pleasant demeanor, thoroughly explained what he will do for me, and the lab work was perfect. I find the office atmosphere puts me in a relaxed mood. Dr. Galkin's staff is efficient, pleasant and obviously like their job. I leave happy after each appointment.

I have gone to Dr. Galkin for years and had been very happy until this year. My wife, who had a lot of issues concerning her current dentist, switched to Dr. Galkin. Suddenly this year, my crown needs to be replaced. He also wants to grind down 6 of my wife's perfectly good teeth and put on crowns when she only asked him about closing up a space between her 2 front teeth. On her last visit he treated one tooth and charged the insurance company for 4 teeth. When confronted, he lied.

Heed my warning and read this review. This dentist is incompetent or trying to get more money by putting in crowns that don't last. He put 3 bad crowns in my mouth in less than a five year time period. One crown was bad from the get go, so he replaced it a second time and did an equally bad job with a deep overhang and open margin. The other two have open margins with decay under the crown that if not replaced could cause the root to die. He seems friendly, but question his work and the monster comes out. He was my dentist for over 11 years. I thought he was the best. I was very wrong. He tried to pay me off with a list of contingencies including a non disclosure agreement. His pay off only covered half of what it would cost to replace the crowns. When I decided to go through his insurance he told them not to pay me just to be spiteful. His $2,500 deductible is probably less than a one month upkeep on those fancy fish tanks. HUGE ego and bad dentist. Don't be fooled.
