Dr. William Lamanno Jr, DDS

When I first called to set up an appoint with Dr. Lamanno, I thought he and his assistant seemed nice and professional—but that was before they realized that I’m blind. During my first visit, they did x-rays and a consultation. They cleaned my husband’s teeth, but told me it would take them two additional visits to clean mine, even though I have no cavities and brush and floss regularly, and they acknowledged as much. After the second visit, they told me, “No, actually, we’ll need three visits.” My husband and I both asked repeatedly if they were sure they could complete the work during the third visit. Repeatedly, they said yes. However, an hour before the last appointment, they called my husband—not me—and said they would only finish during that visit if I could come half an hour early. (We live half an hour from them, and I work.) I cancelled the appointment and will look for another dentist who does take my blindness is an invitation to lie to my face and get paid for five or more visits. I hope this review helps you avoid a deceitful and exploitative practice and find a healthcare provider who provides legitimate and honest care.

The receptionist was amazing. But that was it. Went in with inflamed gums that were throbbing and I couldn’t eat on that side and he said it was just plaque. I went to my normal dentist a day later in tears, because I wasn’t in my home town at the time, and he ran a few tests to tell me I had an infection. Dr. Lamanno gave me some mouth rinse to clean my teeth and that was it. My actual dentist prescribed me an antibiotic bill and rinse to fight off the infection. I ended up leaving Dr. L’s office crying because I was in so much pain (and I have a really high tolerance for pain) and him giving me a sympathetic pat on the shoulder that it would be ok. It wasn’t. I never plan on coming back to see Dr. L. I’d rather drive 5 hours back to my home town dentist once a day then go back with Dr. L.
