Sad excuse for the Hippocratic Oath
Due to a fall, my 87 year old mom fractured her hand & L1. While in the hospital, a Restore MD was her hand doctor. She had a fiberglass splint, upon hospital discharge instructions were to follow up with the ortho MDs, discharge papers had names & phone #s, for post hospital discharge. The spine ortho dr. , not affiliated with Restore, did see my mom for post hosp. discharge, no questions about ins. When we made the appointment with Restore no one asked about ins. On appt day , after about 1 hour waiting, we were told the dr. will not see her because her ins was out of network. I explained this was a post hosp. discharge visit & the dr. needs to check her fracture, remove the splint but they refused to see her under ins but if we pay $450.00 the dr. will see her. Never experienced a doctor refusing to finalize the care of a hospital patient after discharge. We left with the splint still on her hand, been 6 weeks, to fend for ourselves, they just didn't care about my mom.
