Almost Lost Lives of My Baby and I By Going Here
I had pre-eclampsia+ HELLP, with symptoms of blurred vision, vomiting, upper right quadrant pain, and elevated blood pressure, which they failed to diagnose or even warn me about. At 34 wks I visited my parents and my mom was concerned since I kept getting a bloody nose, vomiting, and had severe swelling. She urged me to call AWOG, which I did, although just been there the day before. I called twice and both times the Drs wrote off my concerns as “late stage pregnancy”. A family friend, who is a labor and delivery nurse, intervened and told me to ignore the Drs, they were very wrong, and my life and baby’s life was in danger. I went to the closest hospital by my parents’ house (which was out of town where I was visiting) and they immediately found my baby was in distress. Hospital did a simple CBC blood test to determine I had HELLP. Had baby at 35 wks-emergency C-section. Hospital shocked AWOG never did CBC blood test. Baby was in NICU for 2 wks, I was in hospital then too recovering
