Pediatric Associates of MT. Carmel

Our child is on regular medication, and they force you to make an appointment and come in and ask questions for 10-15 minutes to refill the subscription (every month). The charge was $260 or $280 each visit, with a $16 adjustment for insurance (HDHP). $244 was the lowest bill we ever got for these quick appointments. We asked each time why it was so expensive with zero real explanation, shrugging it off as normal and blaming billing codes. We recently switched to Healthsource. The same appointment with the same follow-up questions for a refill was $48.50 at Healthsource! We even had an emergency (out of town and forgot medication) and we were able to get ahold of the doctor on call and had it refilled at a local pharmacy in minutes! We would have never been able to do that with Pediatrics of Mt Carmel. The doctors are more friendly at Healthsource and generally just seem to listen and care more. Beware if you have a High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP), billing is ridiculous.
