Questionable practices
I had never been to an ENT before. Recently I had been having some allergy symptoms so I asked my primary care doctor for a referral to an ENT. It was supposed to be a routine intake appt...nothing more. The appt was made to see Dr Abrams at this clinic. He looked in my nose, ears, & throat, as one would expect for an initial ENT intake exam. Later, my insurance EOB showed that I had been charged for a 'surgery' procedure in addition to the exam fee! Apparently him looking in my nose with the scope was a 'surgery'. Interesting, because I was not referred nor scheduled for a specific procedure...only for a routine assessment exam. Not once did the staff, med tech, or doctor inform me that him looking in my nose was a separately billed procedure that was NOT part of the initial routine exam. The med tech who initially came in to take vitals, etc, proceeded to spray numbing liquid in my nose, stating it was for when the doctor used the scope to look in my nose. Of course I assumed it was
