I have no issue with the quality of care, my grievance is regarding the billing practices. During my 10-15 minute consult, the attending Dr. spent less time than my GP at my yearly checkup looking in my nose. This brief peek was billed to my insurance as an endoscopy! As the AMA lists this as a surgical procedure, I am now stuck with a $400+ surprise bill. As there are no standards which define what is or isn't an endoscopy, they can pretty much call whatever they want an endoscopy and bill you for it. When I called to question this and attempt to work something out, I was told that this is how it was billed and the bill stands. There are other ENT's in SF, use one of them. If you have to go here, get (in writing) a list of everything they intend to do during your visit along with an insurance estimate before you even walk in the door. Very much, Caveat Emptor here.
