I saw a physician's assistant on my first (and only) visit; she prescribed a sleep study. They had no sleep study openings in the geographical area for 4 months. After the sleep study, I was told by phone by a subordinate staff (not even the physician's assistant) that, after having been diagnosed for sleep apnea and using a CPAP for over 25 years, I suddenly had no sleep apnea. I was never permitted to see a doctor at any point, nor would the physican's assistant talk to me even on the phone and even after I requested speaking with her. I sought a second opinion with another doctor in Knoxville; after 2 sleep study nights, she diagnosed me with moderately severe sleep apnea. My insurance company will once more cover my supplies. I am concerned that the East TN Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine may be making significant mistakes in both diagnosis and professional treatment of patients. Please be cautious if choosing to use this facility to diagnose any sleep problems.
