I was quoted two prices before my visit, one for the visit, another for blood draw. The visit was exactly what was quoted, the blood draw was more than five times more. I called about the issue and was told my complaint would go for review and that I should hear back in 30 days. All I received in reply was an email asking for full payment. My doctor recently switched to Texas Health from Methodist. Methodist was a fraction of the cost for the same services. It's too bad Texas Health does not have the integrity to stick by a quoted price. I would have loved to continue going to a doctor that has helped me for years and who I really like. But Texas Health managed to send me looking for a new doctor because of a lack of integrity in billing.

The visit itself was fine, albeit they saw me late. I also saw the nurse practitioner, Nkechi Onyegasi, and not the doctor. The billing afterwards however was SO FRUSTRATING. They were trying to nickel and dime me even though I only came for an annual wellness exam/preventive care visit (it was also my first time at that doctor's office so I was 'establishing care' as well). They charged an extra couple hundred dollars because my visit was an 'extended, long doctor's visit'. I've had MUCH longer visits with other doctors in the past, and they've never charged me for an 'extra long visit'. All the nurse asked me was about my occupation, where I'm from, and what activities I do outside of work. The doctor's office's reasoning for charging for a 'long' visit was that the doctor 'performed extra procedures'. What extra procedures? She talked to me like a doctor should, and poked and prodded me. Then, they also billed me for drawing blood. And no, I'm not referring to lab tests.
