Carilion Clinic Orthopaedic Surgery - Martinsville

I recently established myself as a new patient with Carilion Clinic. I was shocked when I received a bill......five months later. The charge for my first and only visit was $472! I had no lab work or other diagnostic studies performed. The billing office was unable to satisfactorily explain why the statement had a $186 charge for "PPPS, Subsequent Visit" when I had been there only once. The physician I saw was friendly, competent, attentive and thorough and I have no complaints with the care I received at that time. However, on two occasions I found my prescriptions were wrong. Someone at Carilion had made an error in dosage strength in one instance and in the form of a medication on another occasion. I can't afford to use this facility as I find the costs are prohibitive on a fixed income and I don't feel it should be my responsibility to insure the right medication and dosage are relayed to my pharmacy as that information is definitely in my chart.
