At the first visit, everything was explained in detail, What was expected of me before and after the surgery to make it successful. Surgery was successful and recovery smooth.

Dr. Altenburg has done both of my knees. Great results. I have my life back. He has also done my husbands hip and knee. We will drive out of our way to have him do the surgeries. I can't say enough good about him.

I appreciated Dr. Altenburg so much. I am a 78 year old female and had a total knee two years ago. He told me that I would benefit a great deal from having the surgery and he was so right. I had been struggling with my leg for 6 years and kept telling myself that it would get better. He assured that it would not and I finally faced the reality of my total denial. He is compassionate and kind and positive and you know that he cares about YOU. Eight weeks post-op I drove to Kansas City and cared for 3 grandchildren for 6 weeks. This past week I hiked to Hidden Falls at Jenny Lake with my grandchildren and had such a good time! I have much more energy and the pain is gone and I feel 10 years younger! My life is so much better thanks to Dr. Altenburg.

After researching in many parts of the country for a knee doctor with excellent results I found Dr. Altenburg. I had him do my total knee replacement. Surgery was excellent the hospital and staff were excellent. I’m a competitive pickle ball player, mountain hiker and a very active person I was back playing pickle ball in eight weeks with excellent knee skills. I would highly recommend him if you ate needing on a replacement. So glad I did it as many of my friends waited too long and experienced back issues and other body part issues due to the alignment and compensation With the bad knee.

Excellence bar none !!!!!! Don't look any farther for a knee replacement Doctor. Dr. Altenburg is one the best surgeons you'll find !! 3yrs ago I could hardly walk with my right knee bone on bone and I was in severe pain. After meeting with Dr.Altenburg and reviewing the procedure he told me the decision would be mine to make. I decided to have it done and have never regretted it !! I feel this Doctor is one the best, and not only that I'm pain free !! Some doctors will tell you anything you want to hear, but not Dr. Altenburg ! Truly honest, personal, caring, and most of all professional !!!!!!! I'm back riding and Elk hunting ! Thank you so much !!!

Dr. Alternburg has replaced both of my hips. The first was a total replacement of a problematic right hip using the anterior procedure the Fall, 2014; the second a total replacement of the left hip 2-3 years later in which the left hip was replaced via the posterior procedure. I'd be in a wheelchair today without these procedures, and in both I was out of the hospitable within a day, and recovery was complete and without complications. I have had no pain and am consistently unaware of anything different from perfectly normal, except at airports during X-Ray screenings! Dr. Altenburg is an outstanding hip-replacement surgeon and operates with an outstanding support team pre- and post surgery. He is personable, honest, keeps up-to-date, and he is fast---figure about 30 minutes while under anesthesia on the operating table. As an experienced and highly satisfied patient, I have no reservations about providing the highest recommendation of Dr. Altenburg for a total hip replacement.

Dr. Altenburg did a wonderful job replacing my right hip. Prior to the surgery, all my questions were answered clearly and professionally. I sailed through the surgery, had a rapid and complete recovery, and I am back to doing everything I could do before the surgery and more. I may be an unusual case, but I would definitely recommend Dr. Altenburg if you are looking for a hip replacement

Dr Altenburg was wonderful to work with. He did an excellent job on replacing both of my knees the same day. The legs are the same length, straight and my recovery has been rapid. After 6 months I am able to dance again and have a normal life. He is very caring and answered all of my questions. Judy Bush

I highly recommend Dr. Altenburg. I have to admit I was nervous about my total knee replacement. I had been waiting for 45 years to have it done and it gradually got worse. But with a lot of support and persuasion from my co-workers that had the surgery done I finally made the decision. Dr. Altenburg fit what I was looking for in a surgeon and it has been a great decision for me. I am pain free and can do things now I haven't done in many years. I couldn't be more pleased with the care and the outcome. I look forward to my checkups with him. He is extremely knowledgeable and caring.

Dr. Altenberg is not only the best knee replacement surgeon but he is very kind, thorough, sincerely caring and very interested giving you the best treatment from your first visit to the end of your visits. My husband and I love what methods he chooses to do during surgery and recovery. We feel his patients recover far faster and healthier than other doctors patients do. His office staff is very professional and personable. I have recommended him to several friends and will continue to do so! We are so lucky to have him in our community! I am so grateful I waited until he could do my surgery. I feel great now after only a 6 month recovery! I give him at least 5 stars....10 if I could!

I waited to write this review a year and a half post surgery so as to be as accurate in my review to others thinking of using Dr. Aaron Altenburg as their surgeon as I could be, I don't take this lightly, getting a total hip replacement is a big deal. I fully recommend Aaron on all fronts. This is a sincere, highly skilled surgeon who in my case did a fantastic job. Results are all that count in surgery and in my case the results have been great! 3 weeks out I could walk 6 miles on flat ground

After the hospital sent me to these guys I was supposed to get help, but the stupid girl who put my cast on my broken arm did it wrong, not just once, but twice. I went in to say it was still hurting me, and needed it replaced a 3rd time, so they kicked me out. I was told that they cannot help me at a place who treats hip and legs so leave. Yes I was kicked out bc I needed a new cast bc the 1 i had on was hurting me. They still are charging me for their horrible work. Stay away they don't care

Before TKR Dr. Altenburg was present, concerned, & attentive, after replacement I saw Dr. Altenburg 1 time. The knee has NEVER been right, with constant swelling, pain, and knee cap locking where I cannot put any pressure on my left leg until I sit in a certain position and manipulate theknee cap to move. Have called to make appt. with Dr. Altenburg am told I can only see PA. He says knee is ok, I say what about swelling, he says just soft tissue damage. What is causing this damage, pain, etc?

My surgery turned out extremely well. I went into the partial knee surgery with high expectation but never could have imagined the incredible results. I may be an anomaly however within twelve days I was hunting with my sons, within three months I was skiing with absolute confidence and strength and when the snow cleared I was on my Honda 450 trail riding. Each time I hit it hard I feel perfect the next day. I attribute this success to Doctor Altenburg's talent and precise skill. Incredible!

I just received my billing today for a x-ray that Dr. Altenburg's office said I had to get since my last x-ray was past 6 months. I am livid at the cost charged by his office for just a regular x-ray. I went in to Dr Altenburg to get help with my knee which I had a baker's cyst and he told me he could not do anything but give me more shots to help me. He was more concerned about my blood disorder. I have been walking around in pain with a limp. My knee slips out of place.

After 10 months of living with a failed hip surgery, a friend told me about Dr. Altenburg. After a quick review of my x-rays, he was able to confirm that the hip socket had never bonded to the bones. He was able to quickly get me scheduled for surgery and I have had a miraculous recovery. I can walk without pain again. The care at Portneuf hospital is first class. I would recommend Dr. Altenburg to anyone even thinking about hip or knee surgery.
