In my opinion he’s looking out for the insurance
It’s only my opinion and if possible I would give a negative review instead of one star.In my opinion he’s one to avoid because of my personal experience. He seemed to be more interested in saving the insurance company money than the patient’s health. I guess “Do No Harm” is for the insurance companies. My experience with him was after a compound brake to the ulna in right arm which was not stabilized. The hospital that I went to did not have an orthopedic surgeon on staff and the ER referred to a doctor for surgery which was not in the insurance’s works comp network. After being sent to him for an opinion by the insurance company. He said bone would heal on its own and I did not need surgery because I wasn’t an athlete. The bone did eventually heal with a 20 degree deviation which limits range of motion This is only my opinion on my experience with him but hopefully he was compensated well by the insurance company and karma gets him.

Highly Disappointed
I was VERY disappointed with the lack of medical care and attention that I received when scheduled with Dr Fenichel for a work related injury that was documented as such and on video. He didn’t listen to medical professionals recommendations from prior visits nor my medical records. He disregarded my work injury after I couldn’t do a MRI and the nerve test came back normal and said I reached full recovery when I did not. I couldn’t do a MRI due to safety issues so after months of seeing him and only getting a nerve test and X-ray, his medical opinion was he didn’t know what was wrong. He then reported the work injury as a non-working incident and put me back to full duty while i was still injured without any diagnosis ( other than previous diagnosis from medical professionals), further testing , Restrictions, PT, Meds, Or any kind of medical treatment. This resulted in me losing workers compensation benefits. IMO He’s pro employer vs patient. GET A DIFFERENT DOCTOR!!

Dr. Fenichel's bedside manner is less than professional. He kept telling me I was old, which I am and doesn't bother me, but this is not how I expect a professional to act. He could not find my recent MRI, show showed me the one from 9-years ago! I was wanting to see a comparison, he could not provide. He then gave me a shot, which I have had 2 from him in the past; however, this time, it felt like he hit something, he told me to, "hang my arm" and when I did, I almost pasted out! Although I have a high tolerance to pain, never taking pain meds after surgeries, this brought tears to my eyes. It is now days later and I'm still taking Ibuprofen as the pain goes from my neck down to my the middle of my back and down my arm to my elbow! I am not happy as I am in more pain than I was before I went in for my appointment!

We saw Dr. Fenichel when my son suffered a wrist injury. He aligned the bone manually and said it was off slightly but would be fine as he grew. We asked about the next level of treatment to insure it was aligned perfectly. Dr. Fenichel was impatient with questions and not interested in discussing. To question his doctor opinion is unwelcome. He was dismissive and belittled our questions. He said it would be fine. Fast forward over a year later and our son's ulnar was growing out the side of his wrist (Ulnar impaction syndrome). He would require an osteotomy (shortening of his ulnar). We found a wrist specialist out of state who had to open up his forearm, saw out a portion of his bone, and install a plate which remains their today. I wish I had pushed back on the "expert" and shame on him for not listening to his "customer". Would the outcome have changed? I am not sure. Sometimes you get dealt a lousy card. But to not have the chance for the best outcome, that is regrettable.

I had arthroscopy to “ repair” my tfc. Post surgery I was having more pain than before... Dr. Fenichel did not even care to listen. I saw a different doctor and was finally diagnosed correctly all because this new doctor took the time to listen l... further imaging confirmed my suspicion and all the pain I was having finally made sense. So now I have to have yet another surgery!!! I would give 0 stars, please don’t waste your time. Find a different doctor.

Dr Fenicshel and his team saved my career and lifestyle after a bad spill. I had multiple fractures and required surgery. I’m a writer and behavior analyst working with disabled children. And I lead a very active life. All of the above was in jeopardy without full use of my right wrist. I cannot say enough good about Dr. Fenicshel’s treatment and the practice overall. Thank you Dr. Fenischel for getting me back to my life!!

I took my son to see Dr. Fenichel after a sports injury and it was not a good experience. He was not interested in listening to any questions or concerns and he just dismissed any discussion of the treatment process. Not a good bedside manner and I would not recommend.

This was arguably the worst experience I have ever had with a doctor--and I was in the Navy/Navy Reserve for twenty years. He was curt, short, impatient, a poor listener, and uninterested in hearing me speak. Said there was nothing wrong with my wrist--that I should stop doing pushups (since it hurts) and that I should probably take more Advil (since that seemed to relieve me of pain temporarily. I just had surgery to repair a torn ligament last month--with another doctor.

His low rating on this site (2.5) concerned me, but I trust the Jewett Orthopedic group and Dr. Fenichel was able to see me in within 1 week of my call for appt. By including the fact that he practices in the pediatric arena (per his professional flyer in the exam room), he gave me a way to joke about what a big baby I am regarding needles, lightening my mood in the face of my rather severe needle phobia. He was very time-efficient, friendly, and knowledgeable.
