SRS diagnosis and surgery
He's friendly, good listener, knows his expertise and presents a treatment plan and goal. He accepts challenges and.is open to the success and or failure. However, in set back, he arises to the occassion and pushes himself to seek answers!! I have come in contact with many doctors and surgeons, by far he is #1 on my list.

An excellent physician and an excellent human bein
He is the worlds leading expert in Slipped Rib Syndrome(SRS) because he believed what a young man, who came to him for help told him he thought he had this condition. SRS never taught in med schools and unknown to the medical profession. Only a few articles from decades ago describe this extremely painful condition. His desire to help this young man involved pioneering the surgical repair to correct it. He has helped thousands of patients I am sure, and trained hundreds of thoracic surgeons, directly or indirectly to repair this painful condition! He is a National treasure!

Excellent surgeon
Dr. Hansen did my hiatal hernia surgery in January 2020. He said it was in the top 15 of the worst and hardest he had ever done. It’s been 3 years and I haven’t had any trouble. Thank you, Dr. Hansen!

The best there is for SRS
I'm so grateful I found Dr. Hanson. I had been struggling with rib pain for 16 years and misdiagnosed many times. Thousands of dollars spent on many rounds of PRP, prolotherapy, chiropractors, fascia experts, PT, osteopath, massage, and every tool you can imagine to help my pain. Lots of imaging done and no one ever told me it was slipping rib syndrome. I started taking matters into my own hands doing my own research on rib pain when I stumbled upon slipping rib syndrome--which sounded exactly like what I had. Then I saw. Dr. Hansen's name mentioned as an expert to treat the issue. There were other doctors who treated SRS, but since I had been in pain for SO LONG I knew I needed to see the best. I traveled from Orlando to West Virginia to see Dr. H. No imaging needed, he felt my ribs and immediately could tell me which ribs were slipped and that the pain was NOT in my head. And that he could fix it. I cried tears of relief. Surgery was scheduled 8 months later--it was a long 8 mo

This is our feedback regarding our recent surgical experience with Dr. Adam Hansen and the West Virginia University Medical Center in Bridgeport, West Virginia. My wife Patricia had Dr. Hansen do a Surgical repair of what is known as a Slipped Rib Syndrome (SRS). The technique applied was invented by Dr. Hansen. First, Dr. Hansen is the most caring and talented doctor we have ever met. Not only is he a great doctor but he is a great person! His wife Lisa is also the office Manager and she is just as caring and terrific as Dr. Hansen. Dr. Hansen treats you like a person. Dr. Hansen invented this technique for SRS because he was seeing a great many people with extreme pain who were not being treated well by other professionals. Dr. Hansen is a complete thoracic surgeon and treats many health conditions including a special technique for hiatal hernia. What Dr. Hansen did for my wife was more than just an operation – it was a gift! No other surgeon would have done the “extras’ he

Dr. Hansen is by far the most caring, competent doctor I have ever met. I traveled 9 hours to have Dr. Hansen perform surgery on my slipping ribs. Not having had a single doctor in NY able to diagnose me, much less help me, we were feeling unbelievably discouraged until we reached out to Dr. Hansen. He was extremely reassuring prior to surgery and even better when we met him in person. I was immediately comfortable with his approach, his knowledge and his bedside manner. I truly cannot say enough good things about Dr. Hansen, his staff and United Hospital.

Dr. Adam Hansen is an excellent surgeon and doctor. In support of this assertion he diagnosed me within 15 minutes of the office visit. Other doctors (orthopedic and thoracic) I saw previously were unable to diagnose me and basically disregarded my situation. Dr. Hansen performed my surgery on October 2, 2019. I noticed a significant pain difference within a week (today is October 8, 2019). I am confident that I will be back to normal within the eight week recovery time. Most importantly Dr Hansen listened to me and took my pain seriously. His bedside manner is exemplary and should be leveraged as a model for new and upcoming doctors. I live in North Carolina and came to Bridgeport, WV specifically to Dr Hansen as my husband and I did significant research on doctors that address Slipping Rib Syndrome and we selected Dr Hansen. The trip to WV was well worth it. I would highly recommend Dr Hansen to anyone needing a thoracic surgeon.

I was referred to Dr. Hansen when my orthopedic surgeon noticed a spot on my chest x-ray. He immediately ordered tests and a biopsy of what turned out to be a cancerous tumor in my right lung. Within just a few weeks, he removed the lower lobe of my right lung and and I am quickly healing from the surgery. He does not drag his feet about such things. He is thorough and quick to remedy the problem.

He literally saved my life. I presented as a walk in on a Saturday to the ER with a life threatening pericardial effusion. Within hours, I was in the OR. No complications and quick recovery. I am very grateful.
