A. Oyelese MD—Excellent Neurosurgeon
Dr. Oyelese is a caring, knowledgeable and thorough physician. He assessed my problems thoroughly using both examination and imaging. The severity and urgent nature of my symptoms led to his operating on me two days after seeing me, on a Saturday!!!Follow-ups with him and his excellent Physician Assistant, Sara Armstrong, have helped me to be near pain free in a matter of several weeks. As a physician, I am very careful in choosing physicians I recommend to others. I have already recommended Dr. Oyelese to five people within 6 weeks. He and Ms. Armstrong will provide 5 Star healthcare, something hard to find these days!

Scheduling and communication are lacking
I tried for months to schedule a consult after being referred by 2 neurologists.Nikole is incapable of returning calls, setting appointments or being professional. She sent my referral and all of my personal health information to another surgeon’s assistant without consulting anyone. I’m concerned about my health and to be handed off to someone else and disregarded is not acceptable. I think she needs assistance. It’s a poor reflection on the whole facility and everyone in it. Personally I wish I had gone elsewhere for help.

He ruined my life
I went in for spinal fusion due to spinal stenosis and came out with permanent nerve damage. My entire life consists of pain killers and testing to try to resolve my pain issues. I have neuropathy in both feet and cannot wear normal shoes anymore. Walking requires a walker outside of the house. I live on multiple pain killers to get thru the day. I would NEVER recommend this surgeon. Worse of all, after the failed surgery he would never see me again. No matter how many appointments I made with him, I only saw his assistant!!

15 years later and still holding up
Dr. Oyelese performed my L5-S1 fusion in 2007. He must have done an amazing job because the hardware is still holding up. Unfortunately, the navy wouldn't pay for a prosthetic disc replacement on the one above that, which has degraded since and is now dessicated. If I were still in the area, I absolutely would return to him for the L4-L5 issue I'm having now.

My name is Stephanie DeRobbio, I had emergency surgery during COVID19. Dr Oyelese was absolutely wonderful. He saved my legs, his whole staff and the staff at Rhode island Hospital were also wonderful. I can't say enough great things about him.

This doctor is kind, soft spoken, courteous and respectful but most of all knowledgeable in his field. I was given a diagnosis of idiopathic neuropathy by another neurologist who said nothing could be done and my problem would only get worse. Went to a second neurologist who sent me for a MRI and found something going on in my spine. He sent me to Dr. Oyelese. He is the best!! I've since had surgery to fix my problem and doing much better walking after 4 weeks. I'm positive that soon I'll be back to driving and doing my normals daily activities soon. I recommend Dr. Oyelese completely!!!

Dr. Oyelese was a godsend. He became my surgeon at the last minute due to a personal emergency with my original surgeon. From beginning to end, he was attentive, caring, thorough and knowledgeable. I had a 3 level ACDF from C5-T1. My nerve pain was unbearable and my lack of strength and muscular atrophy was very concerning. I am now 5 weeks removed from surgery and am virtually pain free. Dr. Oyelese gave me back my quality of life and gave me hope. He is an amazing surgeon!

Dr. Oyelese is not only a wonderful doctor, but a compassionate and caring person. There are not very many doctors like him. He did surgery on me 4 years ago and even though he is no longer my doctor, he has helped me multiple times on other medical problems I have had.

I have definitely recommend Dr.Oyelese to family and some friends. Dr.Oyelese was very educational when I needed surgery. He sat with my husband and myself explaining procedure and importance of procedure without feeling rushed. Very professional. He genuinely cares and was very attentive during this whole process. I feel very blessed that I was referred to Dr.Oyelese. His PA and medical assistance were great always accommodating. I truly Thank Dr.Oyelese for every thing he has done to help me.

Dr Olyesee gets an 'A' for bedside manner and surgical experience/performance. His staff gets an 'F' for their lack of follow up and returning multiple calls to the office for an MRI finding almost 8 weeks after the diagnostic test was performed. This is unacceptable. At the very least, if the report was funneled to another physician, a call stating such would be expected. This is unacceptable protocol from any physician's office. A total of 5 calls were made with messages left - all unanswered
