Dr. Akshay Mehta, MD

What stands out about Mehta the most is his lack of professionalism and compassion towards his patients, anybody for that matter. My belief is that this a-hole is in love with himself so much there’s nothing left for anyone else.

I love him Dr. Mehta is a great doctor and the staff is great as well

Very good doctor helped me with my shoulder problem. Office staff was pleasant and I had a great experience and great result from my surgery would highly recommend.

I met with Dr. Mehta for my knee and shoulder and mentioned a prior surgery on my shoulder. He asked who had done it; I told him and he was surprised because that doctor didn't usually take my insurance. I said again that it was 6 years ago and had a different plan. I called to schedule the MRI he ordered and found that he didn't order it with contrast so called his office to ask him to order it again with contrast. He denied it twice. My knee had gotten quite swollen so went to see him 3 weeks later to ask his advice and if he might want to drain it. He touched my knee pressing very hard on where the pain was. It was excruciating but he didn't apologize and said it was due to arthritis. He said he'd order an mri with contrast and walked out. The nurse came in with the order and I said I had more questions for the doc. He came back in with his bag and a cup of coffee! He didn't want to listen and walked away from me! I said excuse me, and he kept walking! So rude! Out of room for rest

He gave me a bleak and incorrect diagnosis. I paid out of pocket for a high accredited hospital and they gave me the correct diagnosis and options.

I took my son to go see Dr. Mehta for my son's knee pain. He said that it was Osgood Shlatters disease and said it was basically normal. When I didn't understand the diagnosis and when I started to ask questions he became very agitated and told me that he was very busy with other patients and I had to leave. He didn't explain the diagnosis nor did he offer any sort of treatment or prognosis. My husband then called the office and left two messages for him to call back and he never returned the calls. I understand that he's an orthopedic surgeon and he may not have the best bedside manner but at the VERY LEAST he has a duty to explain the diagnosis to the patient. That's the bare minimum! A patient should not have to do research on their own on the internet. My husband left two messages and he has yet to call back. You have been warned.

Rude & Impatient.

Was referred to see Dr. Mehta once my MRI revealed a torn rotator cuff and bicep in my right shoulder. Saw him on November 17, 2021 parking was horrendous there isn't any as I had to park by the Hustler Casino, originally thought he had an office in Torrance and was sent to Gardena instead. Office staff was pleasant spent less than 5 minutes with Dr. Mehta basically cut and dry torn need surgery. I was finally scheduled for December 21, 2021 and then again on January 11, 2022 both were cancelled due to Covid numbers increasing. Difficult in getting a live person anytime you call as you always get a voicemail and unfortunately don't always get a call back when needed. Finally got a call last week and am scheduled for the 15th of March just praying it will finally take place as the pain for all these months have been excruciating to say the least. Also was a little leary as the Doctor performs surgery at Gardena Memorial which has been on the news for mishandling of Covid patients. Ugh!!

Wouldn’t recommend them. I’ve been trying to be seen for almost a year, and every time there’s something. You can never get a hold of anyone/they don’t answer their phones. Completely unprofessional. Anywhere is better than here. Shouldn’t take an arm and a leg to get service.

Today was my first appointment with Dr. Mehta he took over for Dr. Shah who is no longer n the office. He was very good in explaining my surgery from Dr. Shah and answer any question I did like the way he took time with me, I will see him again next month.
