Dr. Alan Plotner, MD

I have been going to Dr. Plotner for 15 years. Yesterday at the emergency room in Arlington Hospital, I was diagnosed with acute sigmoid colon diverticulitis. I left with my diagnosis planning to see my trusted G.I. doctor, Dr. Alan Plotner with whom I have a 15 year relationship. Unfortunately when I called for an appointment, a person whose name was Gabriel advised me that the first available appointment was October 15. Enough said. I guess I can solve my G.I. tract problems all by myself.

I had a telehealth appointment that they texted me about 2-3 times but on the day and time of the appointment I was left waiting --no phone call, no email, no text indicating where to log in nor to inform me that they were late or what the problem was. I called the office which is very hard to get through--- so I hit the "physician line" and was put on hold for another 10 minutes. Dr. Plotner did a colonoscopy before for me and my husband and I know he is good doctor but the disorganization of his office is a big detriment for this patient.

Dr. Plotner has patiently & with full information, guided me through 3 colonoscopies. From the initial visit through leaving the office after the procedure, he and his staff could not have been more caring and helpful! I highly recommend Dr. Plotner. His professional skills are top-notch. You will say the same after your visits. I am sure of that!

Dr Plotner is an excellent gastroenterologist who is very knowledgeable and always attentive to my concerns. He has a keen sense of humor and take time to listen to his patients. I cannot recommend Dr. Plotner highly enough. His office staff are also very nice.

Great doctor. Provides complete explanation of what is happening and follow-on results

The doctor was professional but considering it was a virtual visit I felt like more time should have been spent hearing me out. I didn't even finish explaining all the symptoms before I felt like I was being hurried along, and this was after starting late as they were already running behind. With an incomplete picture of my symptoms I don't know how reliable the next steps are.

Online appointment

This was the second time Dr. Plotner performed my procedure and will continue to do so unless I move out of state. Each time I received exceptional service from Dr. Plotner and his staff. After returning from, Charlotte in the Spring I knew I still needed to see a gastroenterologist as part of my overall health exam and as recommended by my PCP there. Once I returned home I knew I would schedule an appt with his office. I never considered any other doctor. The entire team makes an unpleasant but necessary procedure absolutely tolerable.

He listens, explains procedures, listens to patient and narrows options for treatment. II have confidence in his skills and expertise.

My visit was virtual so cannot comment on office environment.

Dr. Plotner has great bedside manner. He is friendly and supportive. Very happy with his service and the entire GI Group he works with.

Because of the lock down, it was done electronically. I did not feel rushed, Dr. Plotner listened, responded and gave his recommendations (which did the trick.) I would definitely go back to him, if necessary, and would have no reservations about recommending him to others.

The call with Dr. Plotner was pleasant and informative. He is always thorough. This is why I keep coming back to him.
