Dr. Alan Thom, DO

Dr. Thom has surprised me thoroughly as a doctor. He had been working with me to figure out a diagnosis. I asked him to switch my meds at one point but he insisted I come in and speak with him first. I finally did and it turned out he had read about something in one of his journals that lined up with my symptoms. I was impressed that a doctor actually thought about me outside of our appointment time! He did it again when, during his last week at Adventist, he had his office staff call me because HE wanted to see ME! What doctor does that? A great one, thats who. Completely amazed me. He takes the time to talk with his patients, listen, and offer interesting advice. Not just conventional medical advice, but complimentary medical advice where appropriate as well. I am highly disappointed that he is moving to Anacortes, but wish him the best of luck. I highly recommend this doctor. You wont find a more caring doctor.

Dr Thom is constantly working to help you improve your well being. I'll be so sorry when he leaves Portland!

I found Dr Thom after a very unpleasant visit with my previous primary care, that led to needing to find a new doctor. He has been amazing with my care, and has listened to my concerns and immediately addressed them. He found alternative treatments when I choose to try and avoid surgery, and helped me through the tough world of medical leave and disability when surgery became inevitable. He has changed my life for the better. I have recommended him to friends and family.
