Dr. Alex Detwiler, DO

I had very high hopes, but he is terrible. My mom had a bad experience with him as well. In the end, he moronically stuck a diagnosis on my chart of “Failed Back Surgery Syndrome”, though I’ve never had back surgery! He is real condescending piece of trash. Get over yourself pal.

I've been under his care for a long time now and he is seriously devoted to making me pain free and improving my quality of life. He has already done surgery on me and did a wonderful job. I highly recommend!

Over 30 minutes of info and explanation during my visit. He had options galore and a plan for care to try and put off surgery. I was amazed and relieved when I left and above all I felt listened to and informed

Very thorough, correct diagnosis and surgery resolved my pain, He did a great job as was complicated procedure. Would highly recommend if you are having back pain and have lots of arthitis!

Dr was professional but explained my condition so I could understand exactly what was needed for me to improve He spent appropriate time with me and explained the referral I needed to another Dr I left the office feeling confident in Dr Detwiler diagnoses and would highly recommend him to my family and friends

I was able to get a cancellation appointment with Dr. Detwiler because the back injections I had received on March 4th were totally ineffective. He was patient and listened well, explaining what my options are. In discussing medication, he clearly noted that the Gabapentin I was taking only “as needed” was designed to be treated with two 300mg capsules 3 times a day to work. At the time of my visit, I was dealing with not only severe back pain, but also with a spouse being hospitalised. He was so kind and compassionate!

I was impressed & very pleased that Dr. Detwiler listened attentively & asked his own questions as I reported the good & the bad of my condition.

I had neck surgery with Dr. Detwiler as my main surgeon. I had nerves being crushed by crumbling discs. The nerves affected my left arm. Most any movement of the arm was very painful. I suffered for nearly 2 years with the pain, trying everything from PT, presc. patches, otc pain med, pain rub and finally prescription pain meds. Nothing completely got rid of the pain. As soon as the IV was out of my arm (it was in the bend of my arm) I could move my arm in all of the positions that I would normally have avoided. There is still minor pain occasionally, but the nerves were trapped and squashed for at least 2 years. They have some healing of their own to do.Dr. Detwiler and his PA, Dr. Hafner are top notch in my books. Sincerely very caring. I’ve used several Drs. at the clinic and all have been great. I would like to give Dr. Detwiler and Dr. Hafner a commendation of some sort. A simple Thank You seems inadequate for what they did for me. But since that’s all I have, Thank You!

I have been struggling to get help for my pain and numbness in my feet Dr Detwiler is the first person to really listen to me. I believe I am finally getting what i need. Also Demetries and Jessica were so kind and helpful to me. They are a major positive asset to his office.

Dr. Detweiler was great during my visit with him. He listened to me and is working to figure out what is wrong with my back. I would definitely recommend anyone to him.

I've been seeing Dr Detwiler for my neck pain. I want to try all my options before surgery. He or his PA listen to my concerns and give me options to try. I like that hectares time to listen. Most doctors always seem in a hurry, but not Dr Detwiler. He listens, asks questions, answers your questions, and for me,gave me my options to try and help me. Everyone in his office is so great. He's hard to get in to see but worth the wait. He also did my husband's back surgery about 3 years ago.

I was impressed with him and his staff his nurse was really nice and he looked at my mri and said this is what we need to do and let’s get it done no messing around with 3 or 4 appointments just good straight talk

I had back problems for years and when I hurt it the last time I gave in to surgery. I was better the second I got out. With in a few months I was great. Wishing I’d done it years before.

I have never been to a doctor that is willing to spend the time to listen and to carefully explain the options available to me for back pain relief. Dr. Detwiler put my mind to ease over concerns and questions that I had. He gave me hope without over promising.

Appreciated getting a follow appt the day after hospital discharge.

I was very pleased with Dr. Detwiler in my office visit and surgery. He is very personable and cares about me as his patient. He listened to my concerns and answered all of my questions. I will definitely use him again if I need a back doctor. I highly recommend him.

Dr. Detwiler is a very easy going, yet professional, Dr. His manner immediately put me at ease. He took time to listen to my answers to his questions and I feel he considered them, as well as my MRI, in his evaluation and treatment. My diagnosis required a neck fusion surgery. He throughly answered my questions and concerns in a very caring and reassuring manner. I left feeling thankful that I was referred to such a competent Dr. The surgery went exceedingly well, as have my follow up visits. I had the best of care from Dr. Detwiler and his PA, Michael Hafner. I appreciate that we in North Central Oklahoma have an exceptional back, neck and spinal practice so close to home!

It was a follow up visit. He asked questions pertinent to my dx and care. He is very forthright and displays genuine care for your comfort and progress. I have been to PT outpatient and now doing exercises at home. We discussed further tx with Dr Fraley. I am very pleased with my care by his staff. They are all great and work well together.

Suggested ways other than surgery that would help my back and hips. Appreciated his readiness to use methods other than surgery and had his staff make additional appointments for me
