Best Dr. I've seen in 20yrs!
Over the past 23yrs I've seen 3 Neurosurgeons, 4 Orthopedic surgeons, 2 anesthesiologists(Pain specialists)and 2 MDs (not including the N.P.s and P.A.s.). Not one Dr. provided the time and professionalism Dr. Chen provided me with each visit over the course of about 2yrs. He took the time to review my history with me and listened to my medical history as well as the concerns I had regarding the different treatments he could provide. I felt he took the 'treat the person, not the disease' approach and I actually felt heard and seen as a person. Best Dr. You could ask for. Thanks again for all your help, Dr. Chen.

Treats you like dirt
He treats you like dirt, doesn’t listen, no exam. Did not suggest a treatment, dismissed me like I was dirt on his shoes. Signed a form for my records to be released to him by a previous doctor, instead get a call from the previous doctor saying sigma had referred me to them!

Superb clinicianM
Dr. Chen was professional, personable, and completely focused on strategies that would provide me with pain relief. He didn’t assume that he knew what was best. Instead, he asked me about my pain, what would bring me the most relief, and then outlined options to achieve that relief. He discussed these options in a manner that inspired confidence while preserving my right to make the final decisions. I would heartily recommend Dr. Chen!

Pain management
I have been seeing Dr. Chen for the past 3 weeks and have been very pleased with him and his bed side manner. Has taken the time to explain my situation with me in detail and has done everything to ensure that my pain is managed to the best of his ability. He injected my L5 and was a painless experience for me.

When I went to see him, he told me that he will not prescribe more than 30mg of oxycodone. I had been taking 40mg per day for about ten years, but I told him I would do my best. I have not taken more than 25mg per day since then. But I called him on Tuesday and told him that I was hurting pretty bad and asked him what I should do. He went off on me and told me that he would not tolerate people taking more than he prescribed. He said he told me to take no more than 20mg of oxycodone per day. Well, I have looked at the bottle of 90 pills I got in July and the one I got at the end of August and they both say to take 10mg three times per day. As far as I am concerned this guy thinks his job is protecting me from medications rather than helping me manage my pain. There is no way in this world I can recommend this jerk. Today I got a letter from him telling me again that I exceeded his prescription. He is still wrong. If he had told me 20mg was enough, I would have fired him on the spot.
