Dr. Alexander Shifrin, MD

After waiting 45 minutes in an exam room he spent all of 3 minutes and 20 seconds with ultrasound to tell me what the ultrasound already said. Too bad he didn’t read it or look at the cd he requested I bring. He then put misinformation in his notes to my Endo and PCP. Said I had a pseudonodule when that nodule was biopsies in 2012 and verified it was a nodule not a pseudonodule. I won’t be going back. His bedside manner is awful and it’s hard to get passed his arrogance and lack of compassion. For short I wouldn’t send my pet dog to him.

Dr. Shifrin is exceptional and truly an expert. He is straight forward with his patients and tells you exactly how it is and what to expect. He even advocated for me when I didn't even know I needed it. He truly goes above and beyond! I would recommend him over and over again. I am so glad I did my research and found him! Specific pros in regards to the surgery:-He doesn't use a drain which was a HUGE plus-His incision and scar care makes my scar barely noticeable, which is so important due to the position of the scar

I recently had a thyroidectomy performed by Dr. Shifrin. The entire experience went very well from initial consultation, biopsy and surgery and recovery. Dr. Shifrin is very straight forward and explained everything in easy to understand detail. I felt very confident when the nurses wheeled me into the OR knowing I was in excellent hands with Dr. Shifrin and Tara, his PA. Great staff at the office, surgical coordinator was outstanding in getting my surgery scheduled. Dr. Shifrin is very easy to talk to and makes you feel at ease. I'm two weeks post-op, just had my post-op follow-up and feel good!!! Amazing surgeon and a fabulous staff.

Feel incredibly fortunate to have had the expertise of Dr Shifrin and his team (Tara, Kara, Amy, Georgia to name but a few). He is very straight forward but also explains things in a way that a scared patient can understand. My husband felt very comfortable after his first visit and even the day of surgery he felt like he was in the best hands. Surgery went well, recovery was amazing all thanks to Dr Shifrin. I had a thyroidectomy, lymphadenectomy, neck dissection and parathyroidectomy performed by Dr. Alexander Shifrin.He is an extremely skilled surgeon and the surgeries were expertly performed. I had an extremely quick recovery time.In addition, his office was very accommodating to my phone calls with questions regarding my issues.I would highly recommend Dr. Alexander Shifrin.

As a patient, it is clear to see what led Dr. Shifrin to be a world-class surgeon. He and his staff, especially Tara Corrigan, are providing the outstanding standard of care everybody hopes to receive when dealing with a medical issue. Dr. Shifrin, by being methodical, friendly, and deftly efficient, was very quick to earn my complete trust. I had surgery to remove half of my thyroid, which did turn out to be papillary thyroid cancer. Thanks to Dr. Shifrin's experience and excellent judgment in the specific details of my case, I am cancer-free, and was able to keep half of my thyroid. I did not wake up from surgery with a drain, recovered from the surgery quickly, had no change whatsoever to my voice, and the scar looks much better than I imagined it would. Each aspect of my situation resulted in the best possible outcome, and I have Dr. Shifrin and his team to thank for that.

I would recommend Dr. Shifrin and his team. He is a wonderful caring surgeon who takes time to understand your concerns and explain what treatment is recommended. He performed an laparoscopic adrenalectomy on me and it went fantastic with minimal discomfort.

This is a very fine doctor and staff. My appointments were handled by a friendly staff and a doctor who is top notch. The most recent experience had a wait with an emergency, but the staff handled the situation so well. They even offered water to anyone who needed on a warm day. Dr. Shifrin lives up to his great reputation!

Dr. Shifrin made everything so easy. The day I found out I had cancer in my thyroid I called his office and they got me in the same day and had everything planned out for me. The process went so fast and I'm now cancer free two months later. Absolutely amazing doctor.

This has been my second go around with Dr. Shifrin and his team. Eight years ago, he removed my thyroid due to having thyroid cancer. I chose him then because his reviews were remarkable, and he certainly lived up to them. Recently, he performed a modified radical neck dissection on my right side, removing lymph nodes due to a reoccurrence of thyroid cancer. Again, all went well. You are truly in the best hands when you are under his care. Dr. Shifrin's assistant, Tara Corrigan, is also wonderful. She is so nurturing and compassionate. They were at Jersey Shore together and made the move to CentraState together, and I am so unbelievably glad they did. Thank you to you both and to everyone involved!

I had a surprise tumor on my adrenal gland that needed to be removed. Dr Shifrin was highly recommended, extremely knowledgeable, immediately connected me with an endocrinologist and spoke to her. He clearly explained the process to me concerning with further scans, lab work etc. and the surgical process. Tara, his PA, was always excellent in answering any questions as well. The scheduler Amy, was amazing. I was very anxious and had specific questions and concerns before i was going on vacation in Europe. Amy downloaded what's app so she could text me the answers and relieve my mind while I was away! I was initially concerned about having the surgery at Centra State as I wasn't familiar with this hospital. Everything was excellent. Absolutely every staff member I met was friendly, caring and very proficient in their job. I was impressed that at the end of each shift, the nurse and aid introduced me to the person who was taking over the next shift for continuity. All went well!

I don’t have a many regrets in life, but having Dr Shifrin as my Surgeon, is one of the biggest regrets that I have. His bedside manner is the size of a tick. He’s uncompassionate, argumentative, and feels he doesn’t have to explain anything medically that you may be experiencing after surgery? I let him know that, and when I had my postop appointment with him, he did not show up he sent his physician assistant? What a weasel.
