Excellent care of my dad's colon cancer.
Dr. Columbus was available and took the time to talk to me and my dad about his condition. She is an excellent surgeon. The surgery went well and she provided a lot of time for follow up care. She took the time to discuss his condition after the surgery. She and the PA, Dan, were exemplary in terms of availability, care before and after surgery and willingness to spend time with both me and my dad to discuss his cancer and his care. I highly recommend Dr. Columbus.

Excellent
Dr. Columbus is a very professional and caring doctor. She recently did colonoscopy, for me. I am sure she is a very busy surgeon but she made sure she told me results as soon as possible. I.e., while I was still recovering from the anesthesia.A few days later she called and confirmed the good news that everything was normal and suggested GI doctor and two gentle laxatives. The laxatives suggested by her are very helpful.I recommend her without any reservations.

Life-changing procedure
I can't express my gratitude enough for Dr. Alexandra Columbus and her exceptional care. Dr. Columbus performed a life-changing procedure for me – a resection of an abscessed portion of my sigmoid colon due to diverticulitis and a colovesicular fistula touching my bladder. This surgery included a temporary ileostomy and, most recently, a successful closure of that ileostomy. From the moment I met Dr. Columbus, her professionalism and excellent bedside manner instilled confidence in me. She took the time to explain the procedure thoroughly, addressing all my concerns and questions. Her kindness and reassurance throughout the entire process made a significant difference in my experience.Dr. Columbus is not only a highly skilled surgeon but also an incredibly compassionate and conservative physician. I always felt that my health was in the best hands possible. Her conservative approach ensured the best possible outcome, and today, my good health has been fully restored.

Talent and compassion
Dr. Columbus is a highly talented surgeon who cares deeply about her patients and takes the time to get to know them. She’s been with us every step of the way through a complex life-saving case, collaborating with other surgeons for a successful outcome. Dr. Columbus has always been responsive while both in the hospital and during the recovery. We’re so lucky to have her here at Emerson hospital.

Treatment of elderly mother
90+ year old mother needed emergency surgery and she was lucky that Dr. Columbus was on duty that day. Dr. Columbus was compassionate, patient and thorough while explaining the options available. Once the decision was made, she displayed extraordinary bedside manner and followup to keep the family informed. Her staff was very professional and courteous.

Excellent
Went in as an emergency patient with a gall bladder about to rupture. This was on a Saturday with skeletal surgical staff, so she admitted me and operated first thing Sunday morning. She followed up a few times while in the hospital and checked the surgical site carefully. Was caring, professional and very open to my questions. I am doing fine, thanks to her skills and care.

Not what I expected
I visited Dr Columbus for a hemorrhoid banding. She is the surgeon in her practice who does this procedure. First visit she did an exam and said she may do it but would like to pursue a course of Metamucil for a month along with other conventional treatments. After a month I went back. I told her that not much had changed. She didn't do an exam and told me that I needed to see a GI Doctor. Not sure under what circumstances she would have done the banding but shouldn't have taken my case. I am starting over.
