Egotistical halfbreed
Telehealth
Arrogance, holier than thou attitude. Thinks her time is more valuable than others. I believe she is a member of the Ojibwe tribe and they get a free ride thru med school courtesy of the Canadian government.

Completely tone deaf and greedy
She does not care about patient care- only billing for unnecessary appointments. I would stay away. Sad excuse for a doctor.

Needs to work on bedside manner
She's intuitive and thorough, but there is definitely something off-putting about her approach and attitude towards patients. I'm guessing she was taught in her medical program to maintain a professional distance, look at everything objectively for fear or risk of becoming attached (as if showing too much care or compassion will hinder her ability to provide objective recommendations or treatment). That stated, there is something in recognizing that patients are human first, and being empathic and having the ability to express appropriate emotions are crucial elements of caring and healing. Being calm and in control during assessments should not equal emotional indifference.

Not what I expected
Telehealth
I obliged the doctor by moving my appointment up half an hour because she likes to eat lunch before the telehealth appointment. Anyway, technical difficulties resulted in a rushed and rather harsh meeting. I apologized but she didn't acknowledge it. If this doctor intends to stay in this field, then she needs to develop some niceness and stop being cold and aloof. Regrettably, I don't feel comfortable in this doctor patient relationship and will seek treatment elsewhere.

Unprofessional and have zero empathy for patients
I would give this doctor a rating of a negative if I could. This doctor have no empathy for patients and have terrible/poor bedside manner. She is all about the money she can squeeze out from her patients, more than their welfare. My husband was short by 60 days for his maintenance medicine before he could transfer to a new Baycare Physician. She requires him to have another physical when she already did an extensive one, 6 months ago and we paid a fortune on extra unnecessary bloodwork despite having a good insurance. I guess this doctor is ignorant that insurance only pays for once a year for physical evaluation. Please save yourself from the heartache and headache from this doctor. Find a doctor who is professional and cares for her patients more than her pocket.

Dr. Allyson Barnes
Dr. Barnes is arrogant, opinionated, short, and a poor listener. I need a physician that has a smidge of empathy and a mind that is not completely closed. I was an ER nurse at St. Joesph's main and married to an ER physician for 52 years. I have worked with hundreds of physicians without a problem. I am not impressed with this physician. Proceed with caution!

Thorough and knowledgeable.
I've been seeing this doctor for 3 years and have had a completely different experience than these other reviewers. Dr. Barnes is thorough, professional and attentive. She is very knowledgeable and helpful. I have recommended her to other family members who also were pleased with her care.

As a new patient, the doctor would not schedule my annual wellness exam without first scheduling a "meet and greet" appointment. After the insurance adjustments, the $138.51 cost of the appointment was under my deductible. The second appointment was for my annual wellness exam which is fully covered by insurance. It was the most incomplete physical exam I have ever had. Also, be alert for extra charges. Unknown to me at the time, in addition to the charge for the wellness exam, the doctor added additional codes to my lab orders and to my office visit that were not covered under my wellness exam. There were no lab tests ordered other than what are usually and customarily ordered for a physical. The lab did deduct these charges. The doctor refused to change or delete the extra diagnosis codes from her bill, which resulted in extra charges that were not covered by insurance and under my deductible. I believe these extra charges were for renewing two prescriptions.
