HIGH PRAISE
I THINK PEOPLE EXAGGERATE A LOT THESE DAYS USING WORDS LIKE BRILLIANT, GENIUS, ETC. IT IS MY OPINION AFTER 14 YEARS OF SEEING DR. BURSTEIN THAT HE IS INDEED BRILLIANT IN ASSESSING AND IF HE DOESN'T UNDERSTAND HE WILL TELL YOU. HE IS DIRECT AND I TRUST HIM. HE SEEMS TO BE A VERY FULFILLED DOCTOR AND HUMAN BEING. HE HELPS MENTOR STUDENTS BY ASKING IF THEY MAY BE PRESENT. IT'S TOTALLY UP TO YOU. HE HAS HELPED ME TREMENDOUSLY.

Dr. Burstein - the best
I saw Dr. Burstein for about 4 years. I moved to Tucson and now I drive to Scottsdale to see him. There's no better psychiatrist in the entire city! He's astute and caring, and he made a correct diagnosis at my first appointment. He hasn't tinkered with my medication since it works. He responds quickly to refill requests. He's caring and sympathetic and readily available during a crisis. He does telehealth sessions when necessary. I have tremendous respect for him. Just because he doesn't do cartwheels when you come into the office doesn't mean he has no "bedside manner." He's an exceptional therapist. I wouldn't go to anyone else. Definitely 5 stars!

I’ve been seeing a Psychiatrist for 4 years for BiPolar Type 2, stable on medication “cocktail” for the entire time. That Dr. closed his practice and I went to see Dr. Burstein. I was only allowed to see his PA who was dry, no personality and wanted to entirely change my medication regiment. Would not suggest this practice at all. My father in-law runs a hospital and after explaining my appt. with him, he said this guy is nuts. Never pull someone off a medication plan that works. 4 years of a great life compared to what I had and he wanted to mess it all up. His PA should be let go, he is awful. If there was a 0 star, I’d go that route. Not because I’m looking for drugs which he claimed, but because I am finally living a stable life and he wanted to mess it all up. Waste of time.

Burstein is rude, abrasive, egotistical, elitist, and severely lacking in bedside manner.I was immediately misdiagnosed during my first appointment. Every appointment I explained to him the new medicine he put me on for my new diagnosis was not treating the symptoms it was intended to and was having negative affects. I requested we try a different medication and he said "I don't have a happy pill for you" and this is just one of the rude, condescending and inappropriate comments he made.

This seems like a “pill factory” people in the lobby don’t look well and he just over medicated to the point of numbness. My ex wife recommended him and I mistakenly trusted her... in less then 10 min he missdiagnosed me with bipolar and told me to take 3mgs of respiradone a day... send session he wanted up to 5mgs... after crying about this as I was trying to sad my marriage, he settles on 4mgs.... My doctor would give an out of control herion / meth addict 1 or 2 mgs... stay away.

Alvin Burstein is the worst doctor I have ever been to. I inherited him when my beloved NP of 15 years retired. He has absolutely the worst bedside manner I’ve ever experienced and some might call him heartless and malevolent. One of my happiest days this year was finding a replacement after suffering through 4 appointments with him for medication management. If you’re looking for someone to be disrespectful and miserable you’ve found your doctor.

I was referred to Dr. B by another whack job just like him. Not only did I find him completely unable to have a worthy conversation regarding my situation I found him to be completely self absorbed.i do not believe that the man can hear.I often find myself sitting in his waiting room 4 Times longer than I was in the exam room. I had to laugh when he tried to applaud himself over a medication change as he completely had ignored all the side effects. He is all about $$$$$.Stay away at all cost

I've had waits with him before, but only a bad one once. Sometimes I felt like he didn't truly listen to what I was saying. He dismissed some of the side effects I was having from some medications he prescribed as 'not that bad' (extreme dizziness to the point I couldn't drive). I don't know how I feel about him - some aspects were good - not in a rush to prescribe a ton of medications, and some times I felt he thought I was making everything up.

Worst doctor I have ever seen. Completely incompetent about medications. I wish I had read these other reviews before going in. Wasted my time and money. His office staff never called me back either.

Would absolutely recommend. Front office staff is consistently cordial and accommodating. Dr. Burstein himself is not overly talkative, but asks the right questions and made me feel at ease during my medication transition. I was confident in his recommendations, and appreciated his conservative and mindful approach to my treatment. Overall, very pleased with his expertise and guidance.

Prior to seeing Dr. Burstein, I was in and out of hospitals and my condition was worsening. I have been seeing Dr. Burstein for over 7 years now and have been stable and out of the hospital the whole time. he understands me and my condition and I trust him with my medical needs.
