Dr. Alvin Cowans, DPM

I had my first appointment with Dr Cowans in November 2022. I had a lot of pain in two toes on my right foot and I had issues with my ankle. Dr Cowans had my feet X-rayed and very easily diagnosed what was going on with my feet. The ankle issue was inflammation from tendinitis and arthritis. In January I had surgery for my toe issues and after two months of healing I was able to return to all my normal activities. Dr Cowans is an excellent doctor and I have referred him to friends who have been helped by his treatments.

Office staff was excellent and welcoming. I didn’t wait over five minutes before being seen. I sought out an opinion on a prior diagnosis from another physician. Dr. Cowens was very knowledgeable and readily gave me a diagnosis and a fix. He performed surgery on my foot which resulted in diminished mobility but also decreased pain. I was more than satisfied with the treatment that I received. The demeanor of the office staff was professional, but also very pleasant. The office was clean and comfortable. He also had the equipment necessary to diagnose my condition. I was able to get x-rays on the spot. I found he doctor to be friendly and expeditious in his work. I would not hesitate to recommend him for my family and friends.

poor. misdiagnosis. after 3 visits still no improvement. 2nd opinion and new treatment plan. minor pain but making significant progress in 2 weeks. will never return to this practice again nor recommend.

I am so glad I visited Dr. Cowans. Great staff, beautiful office, and the doctor was very attentive and made me feel comfortable. It turned out I had a broken foot and he explained how another disease might be causative. I highly recommend Dr. Cowans.

I really enjoyed Dr. Cowan as my ankle surgeon. I’m an Army veteran. I use to jump out of airplanes and play lots of basketball and football. Well I remember on a jump I just thought I had twisted my ankle. Than after being out the military for some years I was still playing lots of basketball. One day I jumped for a jump shot felt something pull in the same ankle that I thought years ago was just a high sprain. Well need I say everytime after I felt something pop it would swell and hurt. I received va care but they diagnosed me with a partially torn Achilles on my left ankle. I was able to find an outside doctor to do my Achilles repairment which was Dr Cowan. He was great and he gave me a year to be completely back on my feet. I was back on my feet in 6 months thanks to his knowledge and care for me thank you Dr. Cowan. My names Lanard Boyd. Dr. Cowans is very respectful, friendly, his smile and personality light up a room, and HE DOESN'T RUSH! He takes his time no matter how busy he is and answers questions and concerns! He knows what he is doing, gives you options for treatment, and sticks by you till the end... on a scale of 1-10 of recommendations he is a 100!!

Doctor cowans is really good , he pin- pointed my problem and went to work. He got me rolling again , i truly recommend anyone that has a problem with there foot and ankle come see them. (Family for life)

I've been having pain in my feet every since 1995 and every doctor that I went to didn't know what was really going on with my feet it was to the point that I felt like it was all in my head. I start having discolorations in my toenails and my toes started to look deformed so I an appointment with Dr. Cowans, and he gave me the proper diagnosis. We both made the decision to do the surgery needless to say that was the best decision of my life thanks to Dr.Cowans my pain is under control!!! xoxo

I met Dr Cowans in the hospital. He was the doctor on call memorial weekend. Needless to say it was extremely busy. I had been diagnosed with MRSA (infection) from a previous foot surgery. Dr Cowans recommend that I have a MRI. It showed that the MRSA could have spread into 2 bones. He did a biopsy and clean out. He explained everything in laymen terms. Answered all our questions. Spent the time even though it was so busy. Other doctors were in and out in a hurry. I would highly recommend!
