Dr. Amanda Powell, DO

Very rushed appointment. It was my first time with her and she asked me nothing about my medical history. Even when I was giving her the details about my PCOS, pregnancy, etc. she didn't seem to be interested. Very disappointed.

Short. Dismissive. Does not take the time to listen. I came prepared with organized information and questions and she was unwilling to discuss or provide any insight on my concerns.

Dr. Powell is the perfect gynecologist for me. She is quick and painless, which is perfect for my busy and sometimes unpredictable schedule. While some have said they sometimes feel rushed, I have never personally experienced feeling undervalued by her or the nursing staff. She always finds time to ask about my personal life and talk about any health concerns I have. When I was having terrible hormonal migraines, she was able to come up with a solution that worked alongside my other medical conditions. The office was also very accommodating when I was late for an appointment and struggling with my insurance payment. While Dr. Powell’s style may not be for everyone, she is a competent professional and I would not want to have anyone different as my doctor.

I absolutely love going to Dr. Powell. She always listens to what I have to say and is respectful of my opinions. She is supportive in helping me make decisions regarding my health.

Dr. Powell delivered my son in 2017, saving his life in the process. His shoulder was lodged squarely behind my pelvic bone and he wouldn’t budge. Dr. Powell successfully delivered him, using what seemed to me to be heroic measures, as I was terrified by this point. My precious baby was born blue and had to be resuscitated and it was only because of Dr Powell that it was even possible. I would’ve lost the most important person in my life if not for her.

Not sure if it was all Dr Powell or her office staff, but in my two years at PiWH, I believe the staff mixed me up with other patients several times, gave me conflicting info about test results, never identified next steps in diagnosis/treatment, and generally I felt like I fell through all the cracks. I could have advocated harder for myself, but they trashed my trust so thoroughly I didn't have any faith in continuing with them.
