I started seeing Dr. Arain after turning 18. The first thing I need to note is I have multiple mental health conditions (anxiety, depression, and dissociative trances), as well as autism, all professionally diagnosed by a neuropsychiatrist and in my medical record. I had no issues with Dr. Arain's staff, and didn't have issues with Dr. Arain himself until my second appointment with him. When I met with Dr. Arain for my second appointment, I hadn't been taking my medication because I was having issues with anxiety, something he seemed to completely ignore. I brought up my dissociative trances to him and he told me he wanted me to have an EEG to verify that I wasn't experiencing seizures, which would've been verified previously as I've already had an inpatient EEG at the University of Utah (and started having multiple dissociative trances a day before that EEG). I left the appointment exhausted due to fighting off an autistic shutdown, slept for 3 hours, and haven't gone back.

Avoid this doctor if possible
My appointment with Dr Arain was the most frustrating and uncomfortable experiences I've ever had with a neurologist. He was rude and consistently cut me off while I was trying to explain things - then incorrectly assumed my medical history and symptoms. I had to repeat myself numerous times that I did not experience certain symptoms and that I was never diagnosed despite multiple tests being done in the past. He didn't listen to me and was being pushy and rushed me. It felt like he just wanted to put me in a box to label me and then send me on my way and be done with it. Once we finally got through my history and the basic exam, he said he didnt know what he was treating and that my past testings were irrelevant. I tried to express my concern of what exactly I believe my issue is, and he brushed it off. I didn't even get to really speak about what I was experiencing because he kept cutting me off and diverting the topic or responding with "that wasnt what I asked." Avoid him.

I had a very poor experience with Dr. Arain. When my husband and I first saw him, he addressed us by the wrong name. When we corrected him, he became agitated, and would not believe us. The impasse was solved by a nurse entering the exam room, removing the old file, and replacing it with my file. I later had a simple partial seizure in front of him, and he did not recognize it. He hospitalized me for a multi-day EEG, during which my medical records were updated incorrectly.
