Exceptional Treatment
After lifelong neurological issues (I’m now 52), I was diagnosed by Dr. Mehta with a congenital epileptic condition. APN Heather Black acted like a medical detective with an extremely thorough and comprehensive new patient evaluation that assisted with the diagnosis. APN Black was patient and compassionate while I struggled cognitively to explain my complex history, which mimics other medical conditions. I had a 48 hour EEG done on site in their beautiful center (delicious restaurant take-out meals, private rooms) and could not have been more comfortable. You also get a live voice when you call the office, portal messages are returned quickly and everyone that I’ve interacted with made me feel like they genuinely cared about me. If you are searching for a new provider (especially for a child) and reading the reviews as I did, do not hesitate. The 90-minute (one way) drive has been well worth it and I feel confident that I will soon have a better quality of life.

Horrible Staff and Nurse Practitioner
Well if you’re looking for compassion and understanding I would recommend not using The Epilepsy Center run by Dr.Mehta!!! I was given a quick EEG then was told I needed a 3 day EEG which according to the doctor showed focal slowing on my left temporal lobe and I was told I have epilepsy no literature was given to myself or family members all he wants to do is write Lamotrogin on a piece of paper with the strength increased and hold up a model of a brain and not take into account that each person is an individual and what works on some patients does not work for all the staff needs a round of therapy for hostility and defamation of character I was told that I would end up with Dimentia if I stopped the Lamotrigin how nice they do not return phone calls so I hope this might help anyone looking for a Nuerologist whom doesn’t always think he knows best please go somewhere else it has nearly been a year later for me and my progress is improving every single day without Lamotrigin

He saved my son's life, period.
Dr. Mehta saved my son's life from deadly seizures. After a 72-hour EEG video home thing, he DID have to have the difficult talk with me and my son's dad about how serious his seizures were and if we didn't hospitalize him so he could figure out what meds would work while monitoring him, my son could very well die. I'll never forget that. We were so worried to put our son in a hospital. But he was right. Since that hospital stay when Dr. Mehta found the right combo of meds and was able to monitor his brain for a week straight, my son has only had one seizure- in 7 years!! We love Dr. Mehta!

Dr. Mehta misdiagnosed me. Talked to me about the covid vaccine asking why i didn’t have it and told me that “it’s not bill gates depopulation or whatever else is floating around” seems unreal that a doctor would say that to you. he misread artifact on an EEG as “abnormal” i received a 5 day EEG at cleveland clinic and was diagnosed with PNES (basically stress seizures that DO NOT stem from abnormal brain activity) and dr mehta did not want to listen to me when i said that my symptoms felt more like anxiety. he wrongly diagnosed me with temporal lobe epilepsy and handed me prescription and a piece of paper with directions for the meds and told me to come back when i was on the max dose. his work up is cookie cutter - even the people at the MRI place that he sends you to know about him and his impersonal medical work up. please get a second opinion before you follow his direction. his arrogance is egregious and i am just grateful that i did not listen to him.

Dr. Mehta and the Physicians assistant were thorough, patient and informative. I brought my teenage daughter after a pediatrician referred me to this office due to involuntary movements my daughter was having with her legs. After asking many questions ?and gathering the necessary information the PA and Dr. consulted and offered suggestions ?and other helpful information in a calm, relaxed and direct way. I absolutely felt that they both respected my daughter and made sure to include her in all conversations in a very endearing way. It made our appointment a pleasure and I am grateful to them both for their knowledge and the help they provided. Highly recommend this team.

I have been “fainting” for years and was told that I have Vasso-vagal syncope. Lying, sitting or standing - I’d pass out and was not able to drive because there was no prediction when it would happen. I saw Dr Mehta and did not believe him when he first told me that he thought I might have epilepsy. He did video EEG and saw abnormalities. He put me on meds for seizures - I feel so much better. My friend told me to get a second opinion because all the other doctors said so had vasso-vagal fainting - Dr Mehta was the only one who didn’t. At NYU epilepsy center, they said Dr Mehta was right and to go with his plan, which I have. When I told Dr Mehta, he was fine about it because he knew the team at NYU. Thank you Dr Mehta for giving me my life back. SD to see the bitterness from the other person who said you’re cold and condescending- from my standpoint that is the furthest from the truth. You are confident and it shows! Love you for how you helped me get my life back

Dr. Mehta is fine as long as you don’t want a second opinion or threaten his ego. He then becomes cold and condescending. He did diagnose me correctly, but I left him due to his insensitivity at my request for a second opinion. I’ve since found a wonderful doctor who maintains a caring bedside manner and keeps his ego at the door.

Dr. Mehta is an amazing doctor. For years no one was able to correctly diagnose my then 12 year old daughter. Within 20 minutes of meeting her he suspected a seizure disorder. Further testing confirmed she has epilepsy. I feel like he saved her life. Dr. Mehta is the most knowledgable and compassionate doctor I have ever met and would highly recommend him to anyone!!

Dr. Mehta has been my physician since 2015 when I had a seizure . He, through his skills and personal touch, has me well now and monitors my condition thoroughly to ensure that my health is well. He has been a driving force in my recovery from the epilepsy initial episode in 2015 and I credit him with me being able to lead a normal life without problems today.

×Post a ResponseAre you Dr. Mehta?
Dr. Mehta is extremely pompous and arrogant. I was a concerned parent with a lot of questions after he diagnosed my son with epilepsy. I felt extremely uncomfortable asking him anything for fear of the response I would get. I asked about an MRI just to make sure there was nothing else going on as he was very quick to diagnose him with epilepsy. He refused to send him for an MRI. I never took my son back to see him and went elsewhere. As it turns out his diagnosis wasn’t even correct!

I went to Dr Mehta because I thought maybe I had a Seizure. I had a eeg done and he said I did have one and that I had epilepsy. Put me on medicine and kept uping it and I felt horrible. I always felt like I had anxiety. He said it wasn’t anxiety. After a year of this medicine and never leaving the house. I finally went to NY for six days of eeg’s. And found out I didn’t have epilepsy. It was panic attacks and anxiety. I am so glad I got a second opinion. He had a real attitude when I told him.

Dr. Mehta is AWESOME!!! He has an excellent bedside manner! He takes the time to listen to a patient and the family concerns. Dr. Mehta will explain why he is prescribing a medication or test. He will not prescribe medications unless it is needed. If a patient needs to be referred to another doctor, his recommendations of other doctors have been spot on! Overall, my family is extremely pleased with the care he continues to provided our child for the past 4 years.

My friend was having a stroke. Nurses thought she was and stated so. Dr Mehta said she was NOT having a stroke. Based on what, I don't know. Four days later when she lost all use of her left side Dr Mehta finally orders a M.R.I. only to find out that she did indeed have a stroke. Four days went by with no diagnosis!!! Four long days went by with no treatment!!! I will never go to this Dr! EVER!!
