Dr. Tarnower is highly insensitive, uncaring, and unprofessional. She was my fathers oncologist for a little over a month. My father suffered through pancreatic cancer while under the "care" of Dr. Tarnower. This woman is incredibly power hungry and she was constantly reminding my mother and I that she was doing us a favor by allowing us to see my father while he was on his death bed. She also has rapid mood swings, she pretends to be on your side when she is really doing the bare minimum when it comes to patient care. One day, she took out her anger on me by screaming in my face "your father has 12-24 hours to live and you need to realize that". While at UNMH, my father received almost inhumane "care". There were multiple times where I called the nurses station to get assistance in aiding my father in using the restroom. The nurse would answer the phone, ask what I needed, hang up on me without a response and never show up to help. I HIGHLY recommend finding care elsewhere.

Tumultuous at best. Dr Tarnour lacks the personality & sensitivity to be affective with severe diagnosis’. Twice she advised us that there was no hope for my son & was willing to allow him to stay at the hospital and wait to die because he appeared too weak. No apologies. She neglected to review his chart prior giving this disturbing information so blatantly. Had she looked, she would have discovered that he had just gone through rad therapy & was on morphine and oxycodone 24/7. Thus the cause of his lack of energy. Throughout his stay at UNMH it seemed as if she wanted him to die. This was noted in the medical record that she wanted the palliative group to be ready when (not if) he died and that she would not be available when it occurred. She never suggested alternative care, chemo, a referral or assistance for care elsewhere. She showed absolutely no compassion or urgency to keep my son alive. It was as if she didn’t want to be bothered with him. She stole my son’s hope!

This Dr missed two very important factors in my breast cancer care, risking my life. Blasse attitude. Very uncomfortable with emotional reactions.
