He made my life worth living!
I had essential tremors in both hands and couldn’t even brush my teeth effectively. I went to my neurologist, Dr Verona, who works with Dr Patel and after the surgery my right hand is perfectly calm. Now waiting on the left hand to be scheduled!! They gave me my life back!!

My mom had to have a meningioma removed. She did not care for the surgeon that she was referred to by her GP. Fortunately, a friend mentioned Dr. Anant Patel, and we could not have been more pleased. The whole experience with Dr. Patel and all his staff was first rate. So grateful to Dr. Patel for taking such good care of my mom.

Dr. Patel was thorough, listened to my symptoms, and answered all questions to my satisfaction. He was sympathetic, and his responses were reassuring. Dr. Patel went over all potential options, and suggested the best course of action. Highly recommend.

On call doctor who did what he said he would: contact my surgeon and got back to me through the right person and gave me hope for my severe pain within the team within 3 days. *I haven't seen the documents mentioned below but have to agree to submit this rating.

Went in for “footfall” from spinal stenosis. Surgery failed to correct this problem. The surgery produced a small tear in the dura which allowed the leakage of spinal fluid which at a certain point causes excruciating pain. Dr Patel uses a cohort organization to monitor nerve/muscle interaction. Medicare does not approve this service which generally means the service is unnecessary. Patel ‘s need jerk reaction is to send hid failures to Rehab. If you search the NIH for “Failed BAck Surgery Syndrome” you will find a paper that asserts that there is no publish papers establishing the physical therapy itself cures the incredible neurotic pain. Healing and PT May for many be time correlated but this does not mean they are causally connected. I could never communicate with Patel after surgery. I’m considering changing my cardiologist that recommended this surgeon — that is how upset I am about this surgical travesty. I’ve had many surgeries. I’m sure I’ve signed away my rights to litigate

I was not one of Dr. Patel’s patients, but my (then) 18-year-old daughter was. She had fallen, hit her head, and thus spent several days in the hospital. I was distraught. When we saw Dr. Patel he reassured my daughter and me: “She will get better. The injury is very small. I estimate 8 days.” Then, on day 8--that very day--my daughter recovered fully. I will always remember Dr. Patel’s humane reassurance and precise prediction. It evidenced his kindness, knowledge, and experience.

Dr. Patel is simply amazing. I was referred to him from my neurologist. I have Chiari Malformation and it only took about 2 weeks to get the decompression surgery. Hes excellent at what he does. Thank you, Dr Patel!

I fell and suffered a thoracic spine fracture with other complications. Dr. Patel only consulted with me prior to surgery but not again while I was in the hospital. I was moved from the hospital to a rehab facility. After release I had to go to ARA to get X-rays as he does not have X-ray equipment in his office. I have had two follow up visits that lasted 5 minutes if that. He doesn't answer my concerns about symptoms I have developed since the surgery. I am disappointed in his follow up care. His patients should not have to be sent out for X-rays and he should refer his patients to the appropriate doctors for additional related conditions. He may be a top surgeon but not a concerned physician.

My 96 year old mother fell in August and suffered 3 fractures, one to her C7 disc in her neck, one in her right hip and one on her pelvic bone. Dr. Patel never consulted with her or me when she was in the hospital. I heard from the Trauma doctor about what Dr. Patel said. My mom was moved from the hospital to a rehab facility. She had to go to ARA to get an X-ray as he does not have X-ray equipment in his office. She had to be transported from the facility to his office on Sept. 26th. We waited 30 minutes to see him and then we were only in his office for 5 minutes. We waited 45 minutes for her transport. I feel he could've told us over the phone what his recommendation was for her to remain in the neck brace rather than wasting our time. She's only seen him once in the month and a half since she's fallen and as stated that visit lasted 5 minutes if that. I am not impressed. His patients should not have to be sent out for X-rays. He may be a top doctor but not in my book.

I came to know Dr. Patel through the ER at NAMC. I am so grateful for his skills, amazing abilities and calm bedside manner. I had lumbar fusion in January 2016 and had a craniotomy 16 days later. Both unplanned. I was in the hospital for 10 days with each surgery. Dr. Patel made sure to keep my sister up to date throughout both both hospital stays. His nurse and his scheduler are so great. They could teach other medical offices how to run well. I absolutely adore Dr. Patel and his team.

At my first visit he asked why I was at his office and told me that if people can walk on hot coles I should be able to tolerate my pain. It took a week for a call back regarding my CINE MRI that was supposed to be stat. I did not go back after having to hear too many times that he was very busy and his staff being rude on the phone.

Dr. Patel has a way of explaining your diagnosis in a way that is thorough, yet easily understood. He is extremely knowledgeable & competent. He took his time with me and my family, and was just very easy to talk to. I am dealing with a difficult diagnosis, but I must say he has calmed my fears and I thank God that He led me to him.

Dr. Patel has changed my life completely, I used to wake up in the morning thinking I cannot go on another day like this. He suggested for my degenerative disc disorder that I have a fusion done on the L5 and S1. The day after surgery I was walking the hospital hallway. The physical therapists had never seen anything like it. I believe he is the best neurosurgeon in Austin, Texas. He does not recommend surgery unless he believes that there is a high probability of eliminating your pain.
