Absolutely no communication from him after my husband's procedure. Very mixed communication from the hospital and info given to my husband while a patient. Kept for an extra night for no good reason, Check in took 3 hours and discharge took 6 hours, This is for a man on oxygen with very low levels. Dr Berke finally returned my calls after my husband had been discharged and said, I see there is a message here for me to call you. Seriously. Such an educated Dr. could not come up with a better response.

My appt was at 4:00. I waited 50 minutes in the waiting room, then another 45 in the exam room. He took my blood pressure, Had an EKG and told me it was the same.and told me to see another Dr. at St Francis. Charged my insurance $960. Lacks bedside manner. Was not very communicative and did not tell me anything except to go to another Dr. and Have Cardio rehab.

Dr. Berke is an excellent cardiologist. I’ve been seeing him for over 5 years now and credit him with outstanding knowledge and concern for his patients. Although at times he does seem abrupt and distant he is personable and asks at every visit if you have any questions and answers them. My only criticism is that waiting time can be very long as he does all his own EKG tests at each visit and thoroughly documents via computer all results for your visit and only has hours in the afternoon since he is doing angiograms and other procedures in the AM. I trust him to do the right thing. I recommend him without hesitation.

Lacks the interpersonal skills necessary to get to know his patients. He seems to not want to listen to or have two way dialog . I place a high value on communication skills. Heart patients need to avoid aggravating themselves. Dr. Berke may have tremendous clinical acumen but he doesn't care about the quality of patient interaction. Simply put lacks patience for his patients.
