Really bad experience
As cold as can be. Got 5 mins maybe said to the NP she needs surgery get her scheduled. Never told me I had options. Did the surgery (trigger finger) cut the 1st and the 2nd tendon sheath and now I need reconstruction surgery to fix the 2nd tendon sheath because my finger wont bend all the way. Staff rude uncaring and whole experience felt like it was all about the $$$

I agree with the others. He doesn't care.
I had on February 14, 2023. (I've NEVER met him prior) he came in to the room gave me a rude stare, he didn't even explain my procedure, and NEVER followed up

Missed major pain point in my shoulder and arm
I have been seeing Dr. Braunstein for several years for an arthritic right thumb and index finger. Occassionally, maybe annually, I'll need a cortisone shot in my upper right arm. When I saw him on Dec. 19 I was in severe pain with my upper right arm and shoulder. He gave me a shot and said it would take a few days before I felt better. It's been 3 weeks and the pain is worse. The 'exam' if you can call it that, didn't consist of asking me to raise my right arm and no x-rays were taken. He told me to order TheraBands to strengthen my upper arm but when they arrived, I was afraid to use them without proper instruction. I returned them and am now seeking the care of another arm/shoulder specialist.

Seemed like he couldn't care less
I can't state enough how unhelpful Dr. Braunstein was. I saw him recently for an initial appt. for significant acute traumatic joint pain that affects my ability to work (I'm in my 30's). The appointment lasted approximately 2 minutes, and the entire time I felt like I was a burden to his day. He made zero attempts to understand me as a patient, asked questions then immediately interrupted my answers, performed a hasty physical exam, ignored the worsening nature of my injury, and was hurried to leave the room without any opportunity for follow up questions. I have a degree in Health Sciences and my wife is a local doctor; this was absolutely the worst healthcare experience I've ever had.

Not likely
Well, if you like the down and dirty type, this is your man. Kind, gentle, NO. Direct, ignoring your pain, you bet. A good doctor??? I really couldn't tell you. DO NOT think you're going to reach him after you're discharged. The promises on the communication system mean absolutely nothing ("we'll call you back by the end of the day"); there are simply no humans available. He was adamant that a visit to his office five days after discharge was IMPORTANT. There is no response from any available avenue of communication from his office -tomorrow would have been the follow-up. What now(?), that I don't have an answer for. Good luck to all of you out there needing medical help.....

Long wait
I had heard good things about Dr Braunstein, but I was not overly impressed with his demeanor and bedside manner. It was a very quick appointment, and I waited for 45 minutes initially to be seen, and then he never came back for the post-review of my X-ray and sent the nurse practitioner instead who apologized that he was overbooked. My appointment was over two hours… not sure if I’ll go back.

Dr Braunstein was very informative about my issue and took care of it quickly. Also very open about the long-term possibilities and made sure I knew how to contact him through his medical assistant if I had any issues. Thanks so much!

Consultation for carpel tunnel
Dr B was delayed due to surgery taking longer than expected. I wish I had been told before waiting over an hour to see him. Poor communication at the office. His NP came in (surprising me) but did not tell me he was running late due to surgery. Just asked if I would be ok seeing her instead. When I asked questions, she basically said I didn't have to see her and left. I know they are busy but very poor communication. Dr B did apologize for being so late.

Excellent care
Dr Braunstein took the time to review my past medical history and sent me for conservative treatment occupational therapy and multiple cortisone injections before finally after 4+ months of living with the pain following my fall and re-injury of my reconstructed thumb he ordered an ENG which was also positive for Carpal tunnel syndrome and I was clinically positive for Cubital tunnel syndrome. He addressed all 3 during 1 surgery so I would not have to have multiple surgeries. I’m still recovering from surgery so I’m hopeful that the revision of my thumb will be able to relieve me from the pain and swelling and also the release of the carpal tunnel will help with the pain in my wrist and arm and the Cubital Tunnel and transposition of the nerve hopefully will stop the numbness and tingling in my pinky and ring fingers. I’m optimistic!

Follow up from a broken Femur
Two years after my fall, I was having some pain. Dr. Braunstein suggested a Cortisone injection and said it would be two weeks until the results improve completely. I, already, one day later, have almost no pain.

Everyone made me feel welcome and at ease. After speaking with Doctor Mark Braunstein I felt extremely confident that I was in good hands. My surgery went well and I am well on my way to recovery. The anesthesiologist took such good care of me. I felt as if I had just blinked and I when I opened my eyes it was all over! I was amazed. Cathy, RN guided me from the beginning to the end with such kindness and compassion. Words can’t express my appreciation for Dr. Braunstein’s level of expertise. Thank God for professionals like them. I will forever be grateful.

Very professional staff at Toi.
Wonderful service, best I've ever had at any medical facility or hospital,ER, ECT.. I was so impressed with them that before I left, I asked how do I go about telling the public about the doctors, nurse's and practitioners working there, front desk people were awesome! I've never had such an experience in my 54 years of my injuries and so forth.. each time in and out within an hour, and that's including a new cast on my arm... Bravo people!!! Other facilities could and should learn alot from TUCSON ORTHOPEDIC INSTITUTE...

I met Dr. Braunstein while in TMC hospital for an infected left elbow. His bedside manor was very professtional, polite, caring, understanding, and explained things so that I would understand my situation without talking down to me. He arrange my discharge and follow up at Tucson Orthopaedic (TOI) Institute on Tuesday. On Tuesday my appointment was for 2:20, I saw him shortly after that. He performed a small procedure and again I was I treated with professtional, polite, caring, understanding, and explained things so that I would understand my situation without talking down to me. I was out of his office at approximately @:45. I also would like to say TOI's whole staff was professtional, polite, caring, understanding.

I saw very little of Dr. Braunstein, but the little diect contact I had with him was unsatisfactory. He was curt and didn't really answer my concerns. Even more significantly he offer very little and incomplete post operation advice: he simple said to close my hand tightly and "no pain, no gain." Now that I have begun therapy I have learned that there were things I could have done that would have helped, and he gave no such information - very unprofessional and virtually no concern.
