Dr. Andrew Friede, MD

I spoke with Andrew Friede in hopes to establish care and was incredibly disappointed near immediately. He is incapable at building trust and relationship, which is the most important part of psychiatric care and mental health treatment at large. He works from a very outdated and ineffective approach to treatment where he views clients as diagnoses and nothing more, presuming himself to be the expert and the client to be subordinate. He asked me to share a bit about myself and very soon after cut me off and asked about my psychiatric diagnoses. My mental healthcare providers to date have been relatively agnostic about psychiatric labels–understanding that they’re mostly only used for insurance purposes–and they have treated me more as a human being. When I shared with him some of my symptoms and diagnoses that can apply, he very rudely cut me off and asked for what my providers had diagnosed me. I responded that I don’t believe we are aligned and he had already terminated the meeting.
