Dr. Metzger provided the most thorough, reassuring, and detailed "office visit" I've had with any doctor, and even though it had to be done remotely because of Covid19, I had total confidence in Dr Metzger's ability to see the problems I was having with my back, and describe the procedure necessary, what to expect in terms of recovery, and what would be the best hospital with the best equipment for my surgery. Although what needs to be done is daunting, his knowledge and experience and intelligence made me feel at ease about it.

I am 68 and very active. Have had 4 lumbar discectomies over the last 30 years. 2 by Dr. Metzger, most recently 6/23/20. MRI indicated another laminectomy/microdiscectomy was required. They scheduled me 2 weeks out and then had a cancellation and got me in within a week. Surgery went like clockwork. Dr. Metzger talks to his patients at their level of comprehension. He showed me the MRI's and explained the procedure. His staff were very nice, and accommodating. I had a flare up/inflammation 2 weeks after surgery and they immediately called in a prescription for steroids, reassuring it was nothing I had done, or required more surgery, just another week of resting and steroids and I was back on track. I am now 5 weeks post, released from care and on my way to my "new normal" again! I would highly recommend him to anyone needing a qualified, competent, and personable surgeon!

I needed to make an appointment with Dr. Metzger about a complex spinal surgery that I needed. Just scheduling an appointment was a horrible experience. He has the most incredibly rude office staff that I have ever encountered in a medical practice. Seeing him wasn’t worth the struggle in dealing with his incompetent and unfriendly staff. I ended up going out of state for my surgery anyway, as he wasn’t skilled enough to do what I needed him to do.

To get right to the point, Dr Metzger saved my life. I had a hemorrhagic stroke following two massive heart attacks. He performed emergency surgery and three years later I am enjoying my 1st grandchild. Despite having to learn to walk again after my stroke, I'm alive and mobile. Thank you does not come close to my feelings of appreciation and gratitude for his intervention and skill on that horrific day!

He was a blessing to me and my family. Many years now after my back surgery, I am doing well, enjoying life to the fullest. My hope is that Dr Metzger has a great many patients that feel the same way I do, because of his skill and experience I have had the opportunity to live a lot of years enjoying my life. Before Dr Metzger performed surgery, my life was riddled with pain and suffering. Thanks Dr Metzger, you are a blessing.

I saw Dr. Metzger for a consultation about a potentially serious (and terrifying) surgery that I may need. He talked with me for an hour and explained everything professionally and clearly. He answered all my questions, I never felt rushed and my husband and I found him to be very warm and friendly. His office staff were all very pleasant and helpful in my dealings with them over the last four months, but they do warn you that their schedule often runs behind due to unforeseen emergencies, and a

Dr. Metzger and his entire staff have gone out of their way to accommodate me. They keep me apprised of any changes, helped me with airline insurance for cancellation and refund. Dr. Metzger and Mr. Pasternaki spend all the time needed to address all of my questions. And, my back is so much better that now d

The best experience that I could hope for! Seven months ago Dr. Metzger removed a tumor from my spinal Cord at T12. Before the surgery I had excruciating pain in my back radiating to my hip and down my leg. The pain would wake me from a sound sleep. I no longer have the pain and sleep better than a baby, I AM SO GRATEFUL TO DR. METZGER AND HIS TEAM!

Dr. Metzger performed a laminectomy on L4 in November, 2001. I had had severe muscle loss, drop-foot, and numbness in my left leg and foot as well as severe pain. The muscle loss cleared up the next day. The pain was much better within a few months, but the numbness in the leg took about a year. I was back skiing within three months. I am still skiing today. Dr. Metzger's surgery was very successful and, I give him the highest recommendations.

I was diagnosed with spinal stenosis in 2010 and it got worse over the years to the point where I could not stand upright, and I could not walk for more than 10 minutes without sitting down. Dr. Metzger performed a laminotomy and dual medial facectomy on my L3 and L4 lumbar in June 2017. It was day surgery that resulted in me standing upright that evening. It is now 2 months later and I can now walk for up to 2 hours without resting. I also played 9 holes of golf with a cart yesterday.

In in July 2004 Dr Metzger performed a fusion and spinal diskectomy L-4, L-5 I woke up from the surgery in so much pain.I got a left foot drop and neuropathy in both my legs and feet. Wheel I told him my symptoms and he said it would go away. I went back for my six week follow up I told him I was still in a lot of pain he didn't believe me and sent me to his associates my next appointment. I am still suffering with a pain that never goes away.
