Pushed me to join a church
DO NOT SEE DR. NADELL IF YOU CAN HELP IT. I should have posted this earlier, but I had to see him during, and then for 2 months after, my 72 hour inpatient psychiatric hospital stay in Summer 2017. I was having severe suicidal ideation, and I happen to be an athiest. Nadell's proposed solution to my problems was that I 'should join one of the mainline protestant churches.' He pushed me to do this repeatedly, even after I told him I would not. Additionally, he made cruel remarks about other people who had been in inpatient having 'something seriously wrong with them,' and contrasted them with me who just needed to go to church. Turns out I needed bupropion, not church. Now I'm a happy, healthy athiest despite Nadell's best efforts. AVOID HIM.

A Threat to Medicine
In 2014 I was hospitalized at Mills Peninsula on a 72 hour hold under the care of Dr. Nadell. He was outright dismissive of my issues, saying that "some patients here have real problems" and that I was going to get over it and move on. This in itself was fine with me at the time, however each subsequent visit I had with him had almost zero focus on my progress. Instead he wanted to talk to me about French architecture, paintings, and classic novels. I felt like a pet to him rather than a patient. He asked what I thought of the other staff and when I expressed any qualms he asked me to tell specific ones to visiting administrators (as though trying to use me to get his coworkers fired?). I played into whatever he wanted me to do or say because I felt like he was holding my release from the facility over my head, despite the fact that he didn't seem to think I needed much treatment. I would highly recommend avoiding his practice and hope other patients have very different experiences.

I should've written about my appt with this guy back when I saw him, but because I never went back, I figured I should just move on. But a friend recently told me that she also had a bad experience with him. I went in for meds fine tuning, and I knew what I wanted to try (since my psychiatrist from Tx had already suggested it). But Dr. Nadell was aggressive and acted insulted that I'd brought up another Dr.'s name. Very odd little man, I got out of there as fast as I could, and got my script filled temporarily by my internist. He was extremely pushy and insisted that I should stay on the med I was on, wasn't listening to me, and kept staring out the window, as if whatever was going on outside he was more interested in. In the middle of me talking, he started talking about his car! I've had doctors act arrogant before, but I don't think he's in the right specialty because he doesn't act like he lies people. Or maybe he just didn't like me, but as a psychiatrist, maybe he could've tried.

I don't normally leave reviews, but I had a really horrible appointment with this Dr a while back, and I should've written this sooner. It's only lately that a friend told me he also didn't stay with this psychiatrist, that I'm writing this. This Dr. was weirdly pushy about my meds, and even though I told him I want to wean myself off just to reduce the side effects, and I was open to trying another med, he basically insisted that I stay on what I was already taking. I thought psychiatrists were supposed to listen to patients, but he was only listening to himself. He seemed more interested in staring out the window the entire time I was there, and didn't look at me, was very rushed. Also, my insurance charged for a 45 minute appt., though I was there for barely 15 min. When I called his office to complain about thhis, he told me that my case was "complex" and it should've taken him 45 min, which is what his time is worth?! I should've stood up for myself more, but I just left

A few years ago, I came to Mills Peninsula in crisis- I was confused, angry, sleep deprived, not eating, anxious, depressed after being diagnosed with an illness. I had issues before then but it really came to a head that summer. It was awful. Then, I was assigned this Dr.- he actually made me feel worse- minimized my issues, said nothing was wrong with me, that I just do "nutty things", would get visibly upset with me, treated me like a liar..etc. He does not show any caring or provide supportive therapy. Now, I have a great psychiatrist and I've been on a great path. I learned what was happening with me and that I'm not as Dr Nadell put it, "a person who just does nutty things." Horrible.

STAY AWAY! This guy is a crook. While my husband was at the inpatient facility, he was actually assigned a different doctor. This guy would wake my husband up in the middle of the night and demand to talk to him. My husband said he was a real creep! Then today I get a call from the billing guy Vishal yelling at me about a bill. First of all, I had never heard of this doctor, and never received a bill from them, and he claimed that he had sent a bill to our insurance company which then they sent a check to us to pay. He said if we didn't call the insurance company today he was going to send the bill to collections (keeping in mind that this service was only a few months ago). I called my husband, who told me that he never actually was a patient of this doctor! This guy is a crook, I will be filing a formal complaint.

Dr Nadell has been my “in patient” Psychiatrist 2 different times with a space of 3 years in between. He had amazing recall and we had no trouble bridging the gap. When in severe distress it was has office I accessed and received immediate assistance followed by almost 3 weeks of intensive support and guidance!

I have been under Dr. Nadell’s care for three years and feel he has been very helpful. He is easy to talk with, encourages me to try new things and challenges me. He manages my medicines well, looks for adverse side effects and makes changes as necessary. I am satisfied with his care.

This man is rude, arrogant and thanks to his advice, my son ended up homeless and living out of his car. It's a miracle he is still alive...no thanks to "Dr" Nadell. He's a bitter old man who treats both his patients and their families like dirt. And despite the fact that he was assigned to treat my son without our consent and even after being paid in full by our insurance the standard rate for his "services", has come after us for an additional $5000! BEWARE!
