I am having problems due to one keg being shorter. He suggested a solution and I agreed with it. I am moving forward with this and will soon see someone to provide help. The doctor took plenty of time to see what I needed. I appreciate his help.

The doctor was very attentive during my appointment, answering all of my questions and easing my mind. In fact, one of the best doctor appointments I've had with Legacy. Instead of looking down looking at my chart on an iPad or even the computer, he looked me in the eye. The first that's happened with a doctor in years.

Excellent care
Dr. Shinabarger repaired my foot with surgery. The recovery has been long, but he has helped me through it. He is pleasant, upbeat, and knowledgeable. He answers my questions with respect and encouragement. The office staff and MAs are all kind, friendly, and helpful.

Other than the phone system, this was an excellent experience from the time I walked in the door until the time I left. The reception and imaging tech were extremely friendly and professional. The nurse/assistant, was absolutely fabulous. So friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. I can't say enough complimentary things about her. Dr. Shinabarger listened, spoke in very understandable terms, described the images carefully, made excellent recommendations, and is obviously a top-notch doctor. This was my first time in his office, and I would highly recommend him to anyone.

I was seen for a broken foot bone so this was not a typical visit for me. I hope I don't need a podiatrist anytime soon but this Dr was good.

Referred to Dr S for 2nd opinion. Excellent care!
Dr Shinabarger listened to my concerns re a bad surgery outcome from another podiatrist and eventually fixed what he could. I found him very attentive and concerned about my continued foot pain and issues. I’ll definitely use him for any foot problems! There was little interaction with the staff other than check in and that was easy. However, trying to get someone to answer the phone today so I can make an appointment appears to be a challenge!

This doctor declined to give me more information after my surgery when I asked, and as a result I reinjured my foot. He said in his notes that I did not want certain options to protect my foot while it healed. He actually had not made me aware of my options. He was visibly annoyed. In an accusing manner, he asked if he could trust me to use the equipment. I was confused. I was getting two messages at once. I see that Legacy states that they are committed to transparency, and that they post all reviews. They are aware of these issues with this doctor, and flat out denied that any of my statemented experiences about my appointments happened. Legacy is at fault for this. I do not believe that this was a first offense, as he seemed oddly defensive about my requests for more information. I got no information at all about how to use my equipment, other than that I should use it, i.e. I was not told whether to wear it all night or not. I told the doctor I did not want pain medicine, and he also seemed not to listen to this. All of these errors were avoidable. If he just did the job plainly in front of him, such as giving information and communicating plainly vs accusingly, I would not have a reinjury, and would not have a reason to distrust Legacy.

No Clear Communication or support
My first appt with a Podiatrist was after an accident where my ankle broke in three places & I had surgery. Dr Shinaberger was assigned to me, as he is part of Legacy. I am over 65 & on Medicaid. Both his assistant and the Doctor were rude, impatient, and angry. I was not given a treatment plan or even a clear diagnosis.' I still don't know what my condition is. He just said: It was Progressive and that my tabula was rotting causing chronic tendonitis. He expected me to understand complex medical terms while in a state of shock. He didn't tell me the truth, because the surgery he said I had as an option is worse than the condition I have now. I had a Nurse get the medical notes and read them, and she said it was clear he thought I was wasting his time and not worth the effort. He didn't want me to come back for follow-up X-rays. The worst doctor I have ever seen. a five minute visit after months of waiting.

Not at all likely
Not good, NOT going back. Saw him in mid Oct of '23 for a 'wedge resection' on my left big toe due to recurrent ingrown toenail issue. The WR was performed but after 3 months my toe felt like it had an infection because it wasn't healing, was still hurting. It looked like he took off more on the left side of my toenail than on my right side...that side healed ok. The first time I called for another appointment to check out why it's still hurting the receptionist said he wasn't 'doing toes anymore'. I was granted another appt. but that one was cancelled, and another appt. was cancelled as well. My take is that when the receptionist said he wasn't doing toes anymore he was telling me himself through all of this 'rescheduling' that he's 'not doing toes anymore'. Probably saw my name on the schedule and said, 'tell her to reschedule.' I got the message...He's not doing toes anymore.

Best Surgeon
I could not be more thankful for Dr. Shinabarger and his team. They were able to get me in to see him the day after I called and I was able to have surgery 1 week after I was injured. His team is incredibly professional and efficient. He made it perfectly clear that he will do what he needs to for his patients. Again, very thankful and would recommend to ANYONE that has orthopedic needs!!!!!

AVOID
AVOID. Was given the go ahead to ride my bicycle at full capacity months ago. I have gently eased Into exercise/ riding and my foot has never healed. After a recent ride my foot felt worse/like a tear or sprain had occurred. I made an appointment to re visit this doctor almost a month ago, and the day before my appointment they cancel. Only to tell me they can see me middle of next month! This doctor said with so much confidence that my foot would heal and to exercise as much as I want. Waste of time, money, and inaccurate diagnosis. Find a different doctor.

Dismissive and uniterested - not helpful
I have sever overpronation in both feet with constant foor, ankle, knww, hip, and back pain. I requested a gait analysis to create a tretment plan to strengthen muscles, improve balance, decrese pain, and increase mobility. I would hate to say that because I am 60 year old woman that I was dismissed. Dr. Shinabarger's only comment - "you have flat feet". Not helpful. (That will be $500.)

I found out "surgery"—callous removal—wasn't covered by my insurance, so I called the office to find out what it would cost. I was told $169 for one callous and $189 for two or more. I paid a $30 co-pay for the office visit, then received a bill for $273. I tried talking to Legacy Health Services, who supposedly investigated the charges, but they remained the same. I decided to pay rather than spending more time fighting it. The visit with Dr. S itself lasted 10 minutes tops. There was a doctor in training who came in for a while first, but we didn't discuss anything substantive, just personal chit chat. I thought Dr. Shinabarger did a mediocre job on the callouses. I had had them removed once before by another DPM, who did a very nice job that lasted. Dr. S did not get them all, he took little care in the process, and I was having problems again within a couple of months. He recommended a cream but didn't tell me how to use it. I would not recommend him.
