Compassionate care
It’s not easy being told you have cancer. I had belly pain for a few months and worsening fatigue and vomiting. When I went to the ER, I had a CT scan that showed colon cancer spread all over. Dr. Trickey was my doctor and he sat with me and my son to give the terrible news. While it’s all a blur, I appreciated that he sat with us and answered all the questions we had with kindness and compassion. He didn’t have all the answers but he had already gotten me admitted to the hospital with the oncology specialists to see me and figure out next steps. It was clear to us that he cares about his patients and goes the extra mile to help them through tough times.

There when you need him
I came in the ER when my speech suddenly became slurred and difficult and my left side was uncoordinated. Dr. Trickey was in the room within 2 minutes and rapidly diagnosed my stroke. He reassured me that they could help me and immediately coordinated with the neurologist and radiologist to roll me down to get a CT and then give me an IV clot buster. Within 30 minutes my speech and strength was back to normal and my life was back on track. It was terrifying, and Dr Trickey’s bedside reassurance and professionalism was greatly appreciated.

I took my neighbor in to the ER at Meridian Park. Dr. Trickery was rude. Dismissive and walked out of the room without really explaining or assessing the pay. All he said is “we will run some test. Very dismissive

Most uncaring physician
Second time my wife had Dr Trickey as her ER physician. No bedside manners, insensitive and is incapable of empathy. My wife was brought in by ambulance and was short of breath. He comes in after running blood tests and says “Your blood tests are normal, go home. You’re going to live”. Never provided any treatment or advice. Just walks out of the room. Stay away from this guy in an emergency.

I got another chance
Having a heart attack is terrifying, and Dr. Trickey helped me through that dark night. He quickly recognized the symptoms and got the blood thinners going while keeping me calm and getting the cardiologist there to open the blood flow to my heart again. I can’t tell you how reassuring it was to have him there telling me I was going to be ok, and I knew was in capable hands. No permanent damage and I’ve got another crack at life.

Very kind
Breaking my ankle was painful and stressful, but Dr Trickey made it much more tolerable with his skills and caring approach. He put me to sleep and set my ankle bones so well that I didn’t need surgery and he arranged for me to be kept in the hospital when it was clear that I wouldn’t be able to care for myself alone at home. I’m very happy with the care he provided.

Super
I felt really well taken care of in my moment of need. Finding myself in the ER was terrifying and Dr. Trickey did a great job of putting my mind at ease and doing everything that needed to be done rapidly. He clearly has been doing this a long time and knows what he’s doing. I felt like I was in good hands when it really counted.

I couldn’t be more thankful to Dr. Trickey for his care of my 95 year old mother in her time of need. She was having a massive heart attack and he thoughtfully guided us through the different options and helped us make the hard decisions that were necessary. He stabilized her heart with the necessary medications and then coordinated with the cardiologist who put in a stent. It was really touch-and-go, but he helped save her life and she’s back home with us.

Really pleased
I’m amazed at what Dr. Trickey was able to accomplish in the ER for me. I have a complicated history of blood infections after abdominal surgery years ago and came to the ER with high fevers while visiting from out of town. The place was hectic but he was incredibly thorough and patient, he even coordinated with my oncologist in Roseburg to arrange a treatment plan and follow up. Couldn’t be happier with the care I got!

Took time for me
Dr Trickey went out of his way to help me navigate a very complex medical issue that I’ve been struggling with. He was easy to talk with and I could tell he really cared. He spent extra time talking with me and my family about my options. This put me on the right path to recovery and I’m very grateful.

Truly cares
My 91 year old mother was rushed to the ER with a stoke while she was still struggling to recover from recent Covid. We had been considering hospice for her but hadn’t fully decided yet. Dr. Trickey was very skilled and efficient in stabilizing her medically. He then spent a lot of time walking us through end-of-life decisions to give us more insight into how we wanted to go from there. This was in the middle of a very busy ER and was very helpful. His caring and compassion were deeply appreciated.

Very skilled
I took a nasty fall off my road bike and hit my face on the pavement with a huge gash across my forehead. Dr. Trickey took care of me in the ER and was wonderful. He did a great job with pain control and did an impressive job sewing up my face. A plastic surgeon couldn’t have done better! He was very thorough with a CAT scan to make sure I didn’t have internal bleeding as well. I appreciated his kind and soothing approach which made the whole experience better.

I have a history of really bad nosebleeds that have required surgical cauterization by an ear nose and throat specialist, and blood transfusions in the past. I came in with another bad nosebleed and saw Dr. Trickey in the ER. He was able to skillfully stop the bleeding himself and was very thorough, checked to see if I had lost too much blood. He also took the time to talk to my ear, nose and throat specialist and arrange for a close follow up, which was comforting to me. I appreciate his thoroughness and his confident skills, he made this experience much less scary for me.

Rude, Insensitive and Dismissive
Dr. Trickey was rude, insensitive and dismissive. This is evidenced by the lack of answering questions. Dr. Trickey did not educate the patient nor patient's family on the plan of care. X-ray, CBC, CMP, and EKG were ordered, but none of the results were explained. Furthermore, in responses to questions, there was no clarity from Dr. Trickey and he actually walked out of the room mid-question when I asked about the follow up. He did not return, but he just left. This type of behavior and care is unacceptable.

Comforting
The symptoms that sent me to the ER this time were very scary. Dr. Trickey was very comforting, calm and caring. He explained the procedure that they were going to perform thoroughly and talked me through the whole thing. I felt safe and in good professional hands at all times before, during and after the procedure. The whole team was great and I left the ER feeling much better. I am very relieved to have this ER as my local facility as every time I have had to come here for myself or one of my family members, we always have had a good experience.

Wonderful doctor
Dr. Trickey saw me for this dizziness that I had been experiencing for several months and my primary care doctor hadn’t been able to figure out. Dr. Trickey was very attentive to the details of my symptoms and knew how to efficiently dig down to the most meaningful details in the busy ER while always showing that he cared. He ordered an MRI of my brain and they found a small tumor which is now being treated by the specialists he referred me to. Thank goodness he caught it while it was still treatable. I’m very grateful.

Thank you
My son had a bad laceration on his arm from a fall. It was a deep cut and he was in a lot of pain. Dr. Tricky was great and calmed my son and had excellent bedside manner. My son does not like needles, or stitches, for that matter, and Dr. Tricky somehow managed to make everything work out smoothly. Thank you so much. I hope you’re working the next time we have an emergency, hopefully we won’t have one at all.
