Waste of time and emotions
I visited Dr. Patel for thyroid eye disease by referral. I’ve had the disease since I was a teenager, and when I informed Dr. Patel of this, he replied that it was very rare, and it seemed as though he did not believe me, even though I have very visible symptoms. He asked me if I was referred, and when he noted that my endocrinologist was an NP asked which doctor supervised her and was my “actual” endocrinologist. This struck me as odd as I’ve never had someone question this, and it honestly came across as sexism. I had to inquire about the possibility of a treatment to reduce the protruding, as new medications have developed since I first was diagnosed, but was quickly shut down. One quick look at my eyes and he determined there was “nothing” that could help me, and that even if I could do an intravenous treatment it was “$750k” per dose anyway. He didn’t seem to have any sympathy or bedside manner, and made me feel dumb for having any concerns

Dr Patel needs to understand autoimmune disease
The Dean Mcgee Eye Institute was highly recommended to prescribe Tepezza, a drug for an autoimmune disease known as Thyroid Eye Disease or TED. Dr Patel prescribed it right away and I had amazing results. After a very stressful life chaning event, my TED returned. Dr Patel believes stress is not a trigger for autoimmune disease. Two of my doctors do not agree with Dr Patel's opinion. The 2nd round seeing Dr Patel was not good. His office changed an appointment without my knowledge. I drove 6 hrs round trip for an appointment I wasn't aware had been changed. Upon my final visit, he seemed upset that I was 'still' his only patient to require a 2nd round of Tepezza. My fb group for TED has many 2nd and 3rd rounders. He highly misquoted my treatment costs as he said, 'Six Million dollars' in a way that made me feel that I wasn't worth it or did not deserve treatment for a blinding eye disease. Drug cost with infusion center fee was under $1,408,000 for both rounds. I have insurance too.

Horrible, we drove from Tulsa to see this doctor, and what a waste of time. The way this doctor behaved towards me and my 19-year-old son was unacceptable this doctor should be FIRED...he did not answer any of our questions, and at one point he rolled over right in front of me and screamed in my face while I was trying to ask questions and understand what was going on with my son's vision. This doctor refused to help us and kept saying I was asking the wrong questions. Absolutely ridiculous, did not believe a word this doctor said. You can do better Dean McGee, we will not be back because of Patel. This man is horrible, and should not even be called a doctor. BE AWARE... HE IS VERY RUDE AND HAS NO PROBLEM SCREAMING AT YOU WHILE YOU ARE TRYING TO UNDERSTAND WHAT IS GOING ON!!!!!!

Is always very helpful
Dr. Patel always listens to my concerns and answers my questions. He has consulted with other doctors, ordered several MRI's and a ton of blood test to no avail, He is still trying to figure out why I'm having all these optic neuritis flares.

Does not listen to patients. When asked what the terminology was called for my condition, was told k do not need to worry about names. Was very condescending and had obvious biased against optometrist or any other treatments outside his narrow specialty, yet wanted me to follow up with my other eye doctors since they couldn’t be bothered to handle the eye effects of the tumor my neurologist referred me for. Desk and greeting staff were very kind and friendly though.

Horrible
I have a condition called pseudo tumor cerebri and I just recently moved to the area from Texas where I was treated for it. Dr Patel briefly saw me said I don’t have it and said here’s a new prescription for glasses have a nice day. Didn’t even go over any of my test results or anything just dismissed me. I do not recommend ever seeing Dr Patel, he wouldn’t even look up the reports I brought with me from previous Dr, he wanted me to tell him what they said. Totally unbelievable! Never been treated so poorly in my life.

I saw Dr. Patel because I have visual snow; if you're intending to see him for the same reason then I'd go somewhere else. When I saw him he told me there was nothing he could do to help. That was very disappointing but not his fault, I know it's a rare and not well understood condition. However, he was so incredibly rude, dismissive of my concerns, and confident that I could not find help anywhere else that I had not even attempted to manage it through other methods since very recently. I learned that many people have found successful ways to manage their visual snow (through changes in lifestyle, medication, or eyewear) and the same methods have helped me too. Dr. Patel seems well accredited and I'm sure he has the technical knowledge to help a lot of people. But he made the last few years of my life much more difficult than they needed to be and I hope others can avoid my mistake.

He did a good job of diagnosing ocular Myasthenia Gravis and ecribing the appropriate medication. When I asked him if I should see a neurologist he said “we are not there yet.” One week later Inwas admitted to the hosptial. I also called his office withbquestions in the medication and asked about fatigue and I was ignored.

Dr. Patel was kind and seemed knowledgeable. He said I had inflammation and just needed to wash my eyes with baby shampoo for 2 weeks and they would be fine. Unfortunately, he misdiagnosed me. After doing as he said, the pain in my eyes was worse. He was the 3rd Doctor I had seen and I was beginning to think no one could help me. Someone recommended Jeffrey Shaver. I did have inflammation BUT I had a conditional called MGD (Meibomian Gland Dysfunction). It is serious and is often misdiagnosed.
