Abene severed a nerve during surgery and then played it off as being normal. He released confidential medical information and then lied during a lawsuit to cover his tracks. We would not recommend him as he is rude, arrogant, and misleading. If you want to experience the worst surgeon in California, this is your guy. You'd be better off anywhere else.

Dr. Abene lied to my husband about his hip fracture, placed mis-sized screws in his hip. Lied about the recovery time and then tried to cover up his surgery failures by indicating that a hip replacement. Communication skills do not warrant even one star. Find someone else to entrust your health to.

Rude with terrible bedside manner. I would have expected better from Kaiser! Didn't seem interested in helping and rolled his eyes when he was told that I was diagnosed prior to seeing him (which he confirmed was in fact the right diagnosis)

Agree with the other reviewers about Dr. Abene's not-so-great bedside manner. That aside, he is a fantastic orthopedic surgeon bordering on miracle-worker. The after-care was minimal and I would have preferred more individualized care. Do not ask for anything extra, such as an excusal letter to miss work as you recover from surgery. "I don't have time" and "I have people for that!" was his reply when I asked. His "people" did, take care of the letter so that's something.

Fell skiing in Tahoe. Landed on my shoulder. Saw Dr Abene. Diagnosed with an AC sprain. Got an MRI the same day and had me come back to. Felt reassured. My shoulder is already 100%

Another weekend warrior here. Tore my meniscus after hiking Yosemite. Saw Dr Abene. MRI same day. Knee scope same week. Off crutches in 10 days. Back to tennis in 2 weeks. Highly recommend. He was awesome.

Straightfoward and honest. I tore my ACL playing flag football. He diagnosed quickly (same day MRI!) and had a plan set the first visit. Surgery went well and it took me about 8 months to resume my active lifestyle. VERY happy.
